I agree, it's intense. 5oz pour was perfect to me.

This brewery has definately won my heart as one of the best breweries in oregon for that matter(in my opinion). The people are super awesome everytime I am there I am happy! Thank you for your juicy beers. Absolutely love the rustic feel of the place. I almost think it would be cool if they grew a baby tree in the taproom. I love all the plants! Thank you team of awesome crew who have served me many times thus far and will continue in the future. Cudos and hope for continued prosperity!

Had some Juice Box tonight. Not digging the 10oz pour and not thrilled about the beer either. Really falls off for me on the end after a great nose. Maybe I don't like the style because that Vixtory Dirt Wolf guest pour I had after? Yum.

dirt wolf is a triple ipa, nothing like the style of juice box.

I agree that it's nothing like Juice Box but it's most certainly a double IPA. Victory would say so since they print it on the label and everything else (taste, abv, etc) about the beer says DIPA.

I've heard great things about these guys. If anyone is looking for Tree House or Trillium I have access to both breweries. Sorry about hijacking the thread

I kind of figured that Great Notion means we don't have to trade for out-of-state cloudy NE-style IPAs anymore. Especially since I can think of at least one other Oregon brewery which is dialing in their own version of this style.

Also, trade requests ought to go in the trade forums.

It blows my mind that Grape Lotion fetches the highest bid of any Portland brewery, but perhaps it serves as a nice smoke screen

I was told last time I was at Great Notion that mixing Double Stack and BB Muffin Sour is a great combo. I tried it with the suggested parts and was very disappointed. Sounds like a good idea hopefully the BB pancake is more palatable. It was not equal parts a believe it was 3;1 BB

Wonder if this will be a problem.

Disparage Spokane all you want (I certainly have at times, over certain things), but our beer scene hasn't had that happen to it, though people did camp out overnight outside Dry Fly when they first released a bourbon. You might encounter a little bit of a crowd at a beer-release event, but unless it was held at Jones Radiator (RIP) and their 49 person capacity, you're generally not going to walk away without trying whatever beer is being unveiled.
edit: Of course, this is referring to draught options. Most of our breweries don't bottle or can, and those who do, I've never heard of things getting out of hand for getting a bottle or can of whatever.

That won't be a problem, but a quick trademark search shows The Dudes' Brewing Company has "JuiceBox Series" registered as of a few days ago. (Filed for the trademark in February of 2015.)

If "The Dudes" defend their trademark I'm fairly certain they will win.

Hmm. I don't know a thing about the law in such matters, but I think Trickster might be okay in that they have had a product called Juice Box out there for a year or so, plus the spelling is different. I think such things matter, or at least they do if you've got the money to afford the lawyers who say so. Great Notion might have a bigger problem, as I think they spell it as "Juicebox," which is closer to how these "Dudes" spell it. I personally think it's all bullshit, after all, if the guys who re-introduce the mid-80s movie The Aviator on DVD at the same time Scorcese's Howard Hughes biopic of the same name is on the market can get away with it, surely more than one beer with the same name, which isn't in the same distribution market, can co-exist.

I didn't feel like sifting through the whole thread but are their beers available on tap anywhere other than the brewery? Say in Bend maybe? Headed there 6/16-6/20 and would love to try some Notion

No, they can't even keep their beer on tap at their brewery. The brewery or a special event is the only place you'll be able to find their beer.

I did hear they signed with a distributor... and they have a new fermenter, so give it time.

Are they still doing crowlers? I figured they'd stop since they seem to run out of IPAs all the time.

I was there this past Sunday and they were doing crowlers of both "juice" IPAs and I believe Zest (might have been one or two more). I asked if there was a limit 1pp and was told there aren't limits on those specific beers. $15 per crowler.

Huh. They had a limit of two crowlers per person total when I was there in March.
