    If you click that link in @dphi 's post above, towards the end they talk about it. Yup, they plan brewing beer by "early fall" and having the whole taproom/restaurant open by late fall/early winter. Good luck to 'em.

    Ahh, totally missed that link. To be fair, breweries are usually fairly simple buildings, but that still seems like a really optimistic timeline. Hopefully things progress smoothly, I'm not really down with breweries that play the hype game, but I do like their beer overall, and they were probably the most kid friendly brewery I've been to. Was going to stop in Sunday, but they didn't open until 12 and we were in the neighborhood around 11:30 and didn't want to wait. Surprised the weren't open already, maybe something to consider in the future.

    Hi, I'm one of the GNB owners. You can for the most part count on some Crowlers on Wednesdays and Fridays and then surprise ones maybe 1-2 other days throughout the week to show some love for ppl that can't make those days.

    Double Stack is tomorrow and Mandela IPA on Friday.

    Regarding our new brewhouse, we received permits and started construction a few weeks ago. We still hope to open our brewhouse and start canning beer this Autumn. The brewpub/kitchen will follow a few months later, most likely early 2018.

    Thank you again VERY much everyone for all your support. Btw, we most likely will be hiring a few new brewers in the next 2-3 months so if any brewers out there are reading this that have canning line experience (this is a requirement. Bonus points for Cask ACS experience!), please email your resume to [email protected] and put Brewer Resume in the subject.

    congrats on the expansion sir! I visited GNB 2 months ago, and I loved everything about it. The only thing I missed out was the black shirt. I asked but they don't sell the black ones, only for employee's. Hope to visit again!

    Since nobody mentioned it (recently) I also wanted to inform you that if you do happen to visit on a crowler release day be prepared for long lines and related behavior. I only mention it because depending on your personality (and your desire for crowlers) there are some that prefer to stay far away on release days to avoid the shitshow.

    To be fair, one just has to avoid the opening craziness. I got there probably an hour after opening Saturday and the place was a bit over half full, pretty low-key, and the whole crowler crowd seemed to be gone already. Had a couple with the better half and enjoyed both very good service and Wildling, which was quite tart but tasty.

    I'm planning on visiting early on a Monday, Wednesday or both. Luckily our air bnb is almost in walking distance! Thanks for the tips everyone.

    That is a fair point. I guess that's primarily what I was referring to. If you get there on a release day after the crowlers are gone then it's likely back to normal.

    @DJturnstile

    Probably be useful at this point to provide a brief summarization, as some of the responses to your thread seem to be going in various directions.

    NedStarkravingmad and Lockeness33 are both correct. Locknesse is referring to what you're likely to encounter if you're hoping to pick up a couple of crowlers at GN. I think GN mentioned sometime back that they're limiting crowler releases to roughly 200 crowlers for each release, with a two crowler limit per person. That's not a lot of crowlers, and so increasingly you can expect a pretty long line waiting for GN to open on crowler release day. Depending on what's being release, and/or how badly you want to bring a couple of crowlers home, you might need to get to GN a half hour or so in advance to make sure you can grab a crowler or two to take home. On the other hand, once the crowlers are all sold out, things tend to calm down pretty quickly. As Nedstarkravingmad mentioned, if you just stop by an hour or two after the opening bell release craziness, you really shouldn't have any problem finding a place to sit and enjoying a few beers.

    Have fun.

    Thanks man! You seem to be quite the local scene aficionado based on some PNW threads i'm lurking in! Me and my east coast buddy are planning on hitting every dang brewery in Portland and then trying to get a bottle share going at De Garde with an Untappd friend who lives in Portland sometime the week of Aug 1st.

    If you're interested in a meet up out there with some out of towners, send me a PM

    When I visited in May, GNB had juice box 200 crowler release on a friday. I came about 30mins early to be safe. It was unnecessary to stand in line, as it didn't sell out till maybe 12:45 (IIRC)

    I'm sure Double stack and stouts will be crazy, maybe no instant sellouts for their IPA's. Not sure why, b/c juice box was incredible. Better than DS and blueberry muffin, tbh.

    I was in Portland on Friday of last week. I went in to Great Notion with the family about 12:15 and we sat down to order–no line, decently busy; they let me know they had crowlers when we sat down.

    After a few tasters and putting in a food order, I asked about the crowlers and was informed Blueberry Muffin had already sold out. I guess I should've asked for one immediately.

    I didn't see a line, since I wasn't there at open, but if you do go and there are crowlers, it's probably a good idea to order what you want immediately. :wink:

    The last time I went, it was the same way (got there 5 minutes after opening bell). I think it was for the strawberry sour release they were doing (strawberry shortcake?), and yeah, I don't think they actually ran out until almost 1:00.

    I think it often just depends on the day of the week, or what they're releasing. To be on the safe side, I'd recommend getting to GN at least a half hour before opening bell, just to be sure of getting there on time to take home a couple of crowlers. Be a shame for someone like @DJturnstile to come all that way, and arrive at GN just in time not to get a crowler to take home.

    I think it also greatly depends on how they announce the release (or if they do at all). They seem to be all over the place on this. Sometimes it's via Facebook, sometimes via another form of social media, sometimes all forms of social media, sometimes not at all.

    Seriously. @DJturnstile, I hope you have a month of vacation time, a DD, and a spare liver, because there's over 100 breweries in our rather compact metro area.

    Literally at least 30 breweries on our list. There for 6 days so I think it's doable! You guys have Lyft right??? :grinning:

    Hi. Newbie on GNB. Do they only sell prefilled crowlers at the moment? No on the spot crowler fills right? Also, how many different beers do they usually release every week? Thanks for the inputs.

    It is. But just to make things easy on the "newbie"

    @mjco04

    At present, all crowlers are pre-filled, and are generally only available on release days (obviously, if there are leftovers after release day they'll continue to sell them, but that almost never happens now).

    As for your other question, I've just cut and pasted a recent post from the owner:

    "Hi, I'm one of the GNB owners. You can for the most part count on some Crowlers on Wednesdays and Fridays and then surprise ones maybe 1-2 other days throughout the week to show some love for ppl that can't make those days."

    In my experience, they usually will do one or two different beers for crowler release on release days.
