I know these guys are relatively new, but Andrew and Harvey are about to put Shreveport, let alone Louisiana, on the craft beer map!! Andrew just acquired 20-20 yr old pappy van winkle barrels. No telling what these guys have up their sleeves to put in the best bourbon barrels available( almost except 23y PVW barrels)

Grace and Grit Double IPA Release – Same Beer, New Name
    By Andrew Nations - June 23, 2014

Whether we like it or not, naming beers is a real pain in the ass. We always aim for something unique, relevant – and most importantly – not already registered. The first time we release our DIPA was for the WYES Beer Festival in New Orleans back in June of 2013. We had just brewed the beer several weeks before and were eager to share with the folks in South Louisiana. At the last minute we settled on the name “Ermahgerd Hops,” as a reference to one of our favorite internet memes.

We never really had plans to brew this beer on our production system, as the ingredients are hard for a new brewery to procure. Our DIPA uses a large amount of high alpha acid hop superstars Citra and Amarillo. Thanks to some good friends in the brewing community, we finally got enough of these scarce hops to brew a production batch of our Double IPA.Now that the DIPA is back, and on a production scale, we have given it a new name that better fits into Great Raft’s portfolio.

We are re-releasing this beer under the new name “Grace and Grit.” This name really describes what we were looking to achieve in the beer. This is an assertive Double IPA that reflects a contrast of ingredients. Staggering aromas of citrus and grapefruit are refined by a malt-balanced backbone in this bold expression of opposites. Grace and Grit showcases generous amounts of American hops and subtle restraint in a delightfully drinkable brew.

Be the first to try it on draft at Rotolo’s in Shreveport on Wednesday, June 25th at 5PM. Bottles and draft of Grace and Grit will be available at the Great Raft Brewing tasting room starting Thursday, June 26th. Bottles will be made available to retailers the week of June 30th. There are a lot more bottles of Grace and Grit than there were of All My Tomorrows. When you get your hands on a bottle, please keep in mind that this is a hoppy beer that is meant to be enjoyed fresh. So don’t hang onto this one for too long. In the tasting room, limit 4 per person. Price $12 each.

    See y’all soon!

Can't wait to get my hands on that DIPA and see what they put in those pappy barrels. So far so good with our new local brewery. These guys are doing it right.

Very cool! I just saw that they're doing a collaboration with Burial Brewing from Asheville, NC, so it looks like these guys are hitting the ground running.

I don't know much about Great Raft, but Burial is one of my favorite new breweries … by far the best that Asheville has to offer (and that's saying something). I'm going to keep an eye on Great Raft and I can't wait to see what the two put together this weekend!

That collaboration they did with @bluejacketdc called Nobody's Darling was awesome! It was an imperial schwarzbier that was awesome. Maybe they will put something like that or a big imperial stout in those barrels.

Leaning towards a Stout or Barleywine. Haven't got that far yet...

Yes its awesome to have such great beer right down the road. The DIPA is top notch.

Why not some of each as far as the barrels? That would be incredible!

I really like this idea, something like what Goose Island did with Bourbon County this year. Fill the barrels with a stout, then put the barley wine in once the stout is done!

We will figure something out soon. Unfortunately we weren’t prepared to get these. We got the phone call Friday, flew up Tuesday and came back Thursday. A bit of a last minute thing but when the Pappy Bat signal went up we dropped everything… Obviously…

Big stout, barely wine or both would be awesome. Either way, pappy barrels is taking it to another level.

How limited is G&G going to be? All my tommorows didn't sit on the shelf a day or two once it got distributed to the local vendors. Missed out on that, but thanks to ol @SteveyTI I got me an extra.

They need to can the hoppy saison. That was delicious. Looking forward to trying the DIPA.

These guys are doing it right. Brewing some great beers, constantly innovating, and always coming through with a winner.

If you get the chance to get your hands on some of their offerings, or are in the area and can hit the tasting room... I highly recommend doing so.

Excellent brews and a great atmosphere.

    Cheers

oddly enough. it seems like low quality bourbon barrels make the best tasting BBA beers. Old Fitzgerald Eclipse beat the pants off of some of the other offerings aged in barrels that held better bourbon.
