I think that it is safe to assume that if by now you have not received a rejection letter then your odds are very good. Cheers to everyone that got / gets tickets as the GTOMW is an awesome event.

This will hopefully be my first year. No rejection yet. Do people usually bottle share at hotels the night before?

I can't speak to bottle shares at hotels due to living in Madison, but there are a bunch of events that happen at bars and restaurants on Friday night (and if I remember right, there were even some earlier in the week last year).

    See the GTMW website: http://greattaste.org/great_taste_eve/

The Great Taste Eve events have gotten a little insane (see the list from last year as linked above), and seem to be escalating and starting earlier every year. At this point GTotM is verging on a three-day event.

Up until last year there have been more people selling tix at the event then there have been trying to buy. Unlike most beer events I think your odds of getting a ticket or 2 for face value are pretty good.

Suprising since odds of winning tickets are so low.

Since last year was unlike any other year - if you want to attend the festival this year, I would only work with the information from last year! I know at least 10 people that purchased tickets last year either the day before or day of the event last year and the going rate was $25 - $50 over the face value.

If you need any additional information on how bad this year is going to be, in-person sales cut-off times for almost every location was some time between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Last year I was at my typical spot at 7:30 AM and was number 26 - this year I was there at 5:15 AM and got number 136.

0-2 here again this year. Keeping my spirits high hoping to find someone with extras to sell/trade!

From what I've been told, if you are willing to wait it out, people will be selling tickets for face (or just over) at Olin-Turville starting around 10 AM.

I don't have the guts to wait that long to have a ticket in hand, so I'd be one of those people paying $80-100 on Friday if it came to it...

That was true for many years. Last year, not so much. As noted by another poster, the demand for tickets seemed to be a lot higher in 2014 than it was previously. There were a lot less people waving tickets around at the gates, lots fewer being sold for face value before hand. Last year was the first year I had friends who tried to get tickets & failed. It was a breeze before that.

I'd expect this year to be similarly difficult to grab tickets if you don't already have them.

There's a group on Facebook for this event and I've had luck a few years getting tickets through someone in the group. Just one other option for those looking for tickets.

What do most people do for hotels? Looks like most within walking distance are booked or really pricey.

There are only 3 or 4 hotels within a short walking distance, but as long as it is nice outside, anything downtown is walkable. The bike path along John Nolen will have tons of people walking to the event.

I don't know specifically about hotels, but they have free shuttles and $1 cab rides, so don't let walking distance limit you.
