I have a friend who sent a check and has not had it cashed or returned as of today...anyone else in this boat? Are these people backups in case some checks don't clear?

This lottery system is a joke. 4 week variations between rejection letters receipt dates? Are you kidding me?

My friends went 0/7... But we don't live in Wisconsin so that's probably why

It's a bunch of volunteers with families and jobs...calm down.

From Tickets page on the Great Taste website:
Please allow 5-7 weeks for ticket processing because we are a homebrewing hobby club and not a professional order fulfillment company. We know you want your tickets, but please respect that we have our own family and work responsibilities too.
Looks to me like they're well ahead of schedule.

All I'm saying is wait and send all the rejections out at once instead of staggered rejections. That doesn't require full time employees with or without families. All it requires is proper organization and planning.

I'm sure there is a reason - but why hasn't this transitioned to an online system (e.g. Eventbrite)? But I did get rejected so I'm biased  Kudos to those that got selected!

You can't hand pick who wins with Eventbrite???

My own personal anecdotal experience doesn't support this but the old rumor was always that people out of state were more likely to get picked due to the improved tourism.

No matter what happens people will whine, but this is still the best run festival I've ever been to, hands down, not even close. From the ticket buying to the mail in sales to the amazingly smooth event itself. Kudos to the Madison Homebrewers & Tasters Guild!

I just don't see the point in getting all riled up when the event is still 2 months away.

Even being a poor rejected soul... I'll 100% agree with ya... Best beer festival I've been to.

All it requires is some semblance of patience.

You could try calming down and waiting the 5-7 weeks that they told you this would take.

    I couldn't agree more!
I been there some years with rain storms and some years with temps of 98 with 80% humidity.
The city, the location, the staff and the attendees. It's just a great time.

I talked to one of the guys I know that is on the side of handing out tickets. He said they have already had some initial discussions about ways to better disperse tickets based on the trend of people showing up early and early. Definitely bums me out because in the current format, I control my own destiny.

I asked him to divulge more, but he wouldnt. He said he wasnt certain changes were coming next year, but based on the trend they may be forced to make changes.
