    Hey all,
This will be the FIRST year that I will be able go up to Madison and wait in line rather than just crossing my fingers in the mail in lottery. I have heard the brewery ticket lines are brutal and you almost need to be there at 6pm camping the night before to have a shot there.
As far as the other locations, what time should I try to get in line? Will 7 am the day of be early enough? I have to work on Friday in Iowa so getting to one of the brewery campsites is just not an option for me.
    Thanks in advance, BAs.

Getting there at 7 will probably be early enough. I got there at 7 last year and was fine with some but not a ton of room to spare. Each years things get crazier but I also was at one of the more popular locations (Steve's Mineral Pt). I remember reading that you could show up far later at the Univ Ave one last year and have no problem, whereas I also remember one year where you could walk into one of the places at noon and still get tickets (wine & hops shop I believe). That said those things seem to correct out over time, everyone hears a place wasn't busy one year so that's where they go the next.

No other place requires you to get there anywhere near as early as Tyranena.

Tickets go on sale on Sunday. Working on Friday shouldn't prevent you from getting there the night before.

We were at Steve's last year as well, & I believe the last people who got tickets showed up shortly after 8AM.

But, as noted, every year these things get progressively more insane.

Sunday morning atTyranena there is a tent city bigger then some towns in northern Wisconsin but the fresh donut and coffee cart arrives early, and the beer cart comes soon after

It really is a crap shoot each year, especially as more and more people get into good beer. I would warn you not to trust what you read on here and on twitter Saturday night/Sunday morning. I saw falsehoods being spread (I don't know if intentional or not) about lines being cut off and people warning people not to even bother, when in actuality there was plenty of room left in line. The only surefire way to get tickets is to arrive early.

Arrived at Tyranena just after 6 a.m. 2 years ago, missed getting tickets by 2 people. That was a rough day.
I think Tyranena is an outlier in terms of timing/crowds, but I will echo previous sentiments: arrive early.

Here are Tyranena's official guidelines regaurding ticket sales.

I wish all the ticket outlets would do the same so people know what they can and can't do while waiting in line.

Anyone have a ticket allocation list for the different locations? This is the first year its not on the MHTG website.

IMO, head to the Wine and Hop Shop for your tickets. I went to Steve's Mineral Point last year around 8:00 and couldn't beleive the number of people. Took off and headed over to the Wine and Hop Shop. Probably got there around 9:00 and was totally fine. I think a lot of people don't go there because they have a lower number of total tickets but that doesn't really matter when there are 200 less people than there are everywhere else.

If you end up going there, I would still say show up by 8:00 just to be safe.

i recall seeing many options in the madison area that provided tickets and last days. i went last year for the first time. i'm thinking back how i got tickets, i don' recall. but the most logical theory is the lottery system. i was no where in madison to get IP tickets.

what's the capacity of great taste? 10k?

great taste was an awesome event.

edit: well shit. looking at the site, i thought the lottery was done via email and not snail mail.
that being said, i recall seeing more tickets being sold months after the first batch. all speculation so don't even bother read any of what i said. :slight_frown:

So is only Steve's Mineral Point selling tickets and not Steve's University?

I don't know which Steve's are all selling tickets this year. I don't know why they don't list locations more specifically and ticket quantities like they always have in the past. It seems ripe for confusion...

if you show late and miss out on tickets there will be plenty available on the day of the event. at least there have been each of the 6 years i've gone.

went down with a friend last year.. we had tickets. one of his buddies that lives in Madison called morning of asking if we could pick him up so he could chance tickets at the gate.

maybe within 10 feet of stepping on the park grass he had picked one up at face. that was around noon.

I'm heading down Sat night.. Got a hotel room at the Holiday Inn on Fourier Dr. Planning on going over to Capital to camp out at around 6AM. Anyone ever camped out there? Think 6AM is early enough?

Also picked up a Livingsocial deal for some beer+cheese tasting at the Capital brewery later in the day.. Should be fun times!

This is the first time in about 8 years I have not been able to go buy tickets and am instead relying on friends to get my tickets. I'm surprised not to see any "Lines are full" drunken posts by now.

How are the lines shaping up?
