This is going on right now. I'm drinking a glass of both and they are amazing!

Wood Parade Series: Your Silent Captain

    - Your Silent Captain is an Apple Brandy Barrel Aged Tart Cherry Imperial Stout that was slightly acidified with Lactobacillus before being brewed with over one pound of cherries per gallon of beer, prior to being aged for three months in Apple Brandy Barrels.

Webb's City Cellar Series: For the Mad Ones

    - For the Mad Ones is a Rye Sour Brown that was acidified with Lactobacillus and fermented 100% with Wild Yeast in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels where it was then aged for 8 months.

    $20 for your silent captain
$12 for four the mad ones

There is a lot left, not a huge line, and ruin amazingly well.

    Super organized! Great job gbb

Hopefully my trading partner comes through with a bottle of the stout ... really looking forward to trying something else from the area besides CCB

The sour brown is just as good as the stout. Lots of wine from the barrel

Both were good but I was especially impressed by 'For The Mad Ones'. Very smooth bottle purchase/pick-up. Was going to trade off the extras but I think I might just drink them! Cheers @GreenBench and look forward to more bottle releases in the future.

Have to agree with all...smooth, easy release and great beers. Debating whether I actually want to trade off my extras or not bc they are so good.

I had the same dilemma... But I'm keeping mine. Mother are awesome. I'll open my extras when friends from out of state come in.

They had a note on their Facebook page earlier today that there were still bottles availalbe. Worth a call, anyway.

I thought the two bottle-release beers were really good but the unexpected delights were the berliners made in collaboration with a local fruit-and-veggie-juicing outfit. Really good!

I guess I'll take the contrarian position here. I thought the stout was a bit of a mess. I know the Bench has a different take on most beers and I think they probably hit what they were after. That being said, it just didn't do it for me and as BA stouts go I'd say it was middle of the road. To be full disclosure, I'm not a big fan of sour stouts in general. IMO the sour brown was the better of the two and I hold out hope that with time it may get better. I'm glad I only bought a few bottles instead of going overboard.

As releases go it was well done and ran very smoothly. Kudos to the crew at the Bench for having a great plan. Will be interesting to see the feedback on these brews as they begin finding their way out of the Tampa Bay Area.

Kudos to Green Bench for a well run bottle release. The crew I went with all agree... pre-sale ticketed events are a great way to go (with a lottery if need be, though not the case here).

i wouldn't call the silent captain a mess at all. i was happy to have something that was different than the never ending line of plain old BA stouts out there. i think both of the green bench beers were great, though i do understand that tastes do vary.

I enjoyed both beers on Saturday and it was a very well run event. The market afterwards was a lot of fun too. I would say that Silent Captain was slightly over-carbed on draft. From the bottle it's better IMO. I really enjoyed the flavors though.

I went to the event on Saturday (awesome) and tried (and bought bottles of) both beers. I thought Silent Captain needed a little bit more time to sit, but really loved the Mad Ones. Definitely a favorite.
