Finally spotted some in the wild here in Tucson. Pricey though compared to what I use to pay at the Brewery.

I picked a single bottle of Nelson at the grocery store the other day. It was amazing. By far the best rye beer I've had to date. I about did a double take when I saw the bottle on the shelf. And all I went in for was milk.

Has anyone seen Nelson or Hoppy Birthday in Boston or surrounding areas of MA in bottles? I've seen it on tap in a few bars here and there, but I have yet to see a bottle on the shelf. More curious than anything....

Any bottle sightings in MD? I had Duet on tap at Roasthouse in Frederick about a month ago. Underwhelmed and found very average. No hop aroma and quite bitter IMO. Either an old keg or GF version is just not that great.
I never give up. Would like to try Nelson, Duet and Hoppy B-Day either on draft or find a single bottle buy option.

Ringwood kills 60-90-120 for the 32% of the population that is predisposed to finding its flavor...errrr..vile. Count me one of them. DFH has to be the only national beer company using that yeast. Not knockin em -- they've done well -- my palate is just not genetically predisposed to like the flavor....

Hoppy bday has been around along w duet -- early Oct for a week or so. I think CBC locations had it. A buddy got a bunch in Sudbury at a bottle shop and passed a few on to me. No Nelson bottles in MA yet to my knowledge.

Was told by my Craft Brewers rep that it's hitting the shelves this week. I was told only Duet and Hoppy Birthday, though.

Sorry but I am so over this. Jesus, this GF vs. Alpine shit is getting old. I started a thread some time ago about being very dissappointed when I finally got to try Nelson and Duet on tap (both sucked). If Alpine is allowing GF to brew their beer differently or with less quality then that is their fauIt. I shouldn't have to guess if the beer I am buying is a good batch or bad batch. Hopefully I will get to try the version that most BAs appreciate and love. For now I will wait until GF gets their shit straight...

Kegs of Alpine Ale, Captain Stout, Irish Red, Hoppy Birthday & Duet are now available in SWFL; bottles are expected in the next week or two.

This thread is more about "where is the dist of bottles showing up around the country" vs the "green flash alpine brews suck" thread. Go to the pacific/CA forum to the alpine thread there to lodge your complaint.....those folks are still steaming pissed about the whole debacle.

Drank some Duet bottles tonight....terrible. Nelson resembles the OG in some form. The duet is a mess. This recipe isn't close

I've seen Duet and Hoppy Birthday on the shelf, but have yet to see Nelson (GF versions, ofc). I've only picked up Duet so far. It was a nice IPA, but an incredibly pedestrian flavor profile- really a standard west coast IPA that drinks very easily. I'd be really curious to see how the Alpine version stacks up, especially since their beers have been highly thought of.

I picked up Duet and Hoppy Birthday dated best by March. They weren't really that great at all and I wonder if this is how they're supposed to taste, or if it's the whole Green Flash brewing them? Both bottles said Green Flash. One of my first trades some time ago was for an Alpine Nelson and that beer was insanely good and still one I think is one of the better beers I've tried. I guess going by that these beers seemed sub-par, but it could just be that I preferred the flavors of that Nelson to these.

Had a GF Nelson over the weekend. Still tastes very good to me. Maybe not as good as the last time I had it in Alpine,CA but still damn tasty.

I had a Green Flash bottled Nelson a month or so ago and thought it was delicious. If the original version is as much better as some are suggesting, well, that's hard to comprehend.
