I can safely say that the new WC(D)IPA is fantastic. The Citra adds another dimension and it is ultra refreshing. I have so many regulars on this right now that I can't keep it on the shelves. If you see the new label, buy it...you know it's fresh.

wcipa is what lead me down the rabbit hole of craft beer. i've loved this beer for a long time. the #newcoke version is just as good. alcohol is well hidden, still super piney, but with a slightly punchy citra nose.

I'm not a big fan of recipe changes, but.....here's where I cut Green Flash some slack.

When companies put out multiple IPAs and DIPAs, we (some of us in the community) complain that "All they put out is IPAs!" Yeah, I get it; and it's not entirely unjustified, either.

However, if they never change up the formula, or release new recipe IPAs, at some point the old stuff gets stale. We stop buying it; we keep waiting for the next big thing; we complain that they're stagnant and old.

People complain about DFH being ridiculous in one breath, and others for being uncreative and repetitive in another.

So, cheers to Green Flash. I haven't tried the new WCIPA, but I'm sure I will at some point. If it's good, then I sure won't complain; and if it's better, then good for them!

I don't really get the criticism here. WCIPA has been one of my faves for ever. Love the stuff. We had kegs of it at our summer parties 2 years in a row! That said, I can't wait to try and thoroughly enjoy the new recipe. I saw it last week in MA but passed (we were on the way up to HF) but I will buy it next time I see it. I have a hunch it's gotta be deliciousness exemplified.

Roguer is on point about staleness. There's plenty of beer I don't drink anymore, all in favor of chasing newer flavors

Last week I got a price check on west coast IPA and their double west coast IPA and guess what it was the same price. Wow that was a no brainer brought that double home and the Citra hops explode in the back of your mouth before you swallow. It was a citrus zing like drinking mtn dew, it was that surprising but the 8.1 was not detectable at all. This beer has not been rated yet its new and like the bottle says extravagantly hopped. Its one to find I promise from a big hop head only.

I too like the old classic labels it distinguished each beer with simple block lettering .

It almost has that lagunitas citrus zing from day time ale (sessional)

    >we increased the dry hopping for both brews and upped each beer’s ABV to 8.1%.

There is no doubt that certain that the reformulation of these beers will delight your [highly desensitized] craft beer palate. (Note my change)

Can there be a better indication that too much of a good thing has occurred, and now there needs to be more stimulation to reach the same pleasure plateau? Dopamine receptors previously overloaded, time to reach the new threshold. Burn-out time?

They're trying to stand out more with the labels. Trying to reach new customers who looked them over previously

I saw a four pack of this at my grocery store the other night and decided to give it a try. I also think the label is a downgrade but I can get over this as long as the beer is good, which thankfully this one is. I'm not sure that it's necessarily better than WCIPA but I will certainly be buying more in the future.

This is very smart on Green Flash's part. IPAs have evolved. What was a great IPA ten years ago isn't up to todays standards. Most people arre looking for hop flavor and aroma without all that bitterness.

That's part of the equation. The other part is little to no brand loyalty in craft beer. In a world of tickers smart breweries know that what will keep (short) attention spans occupied are new beers to try.
