Had couple of Brother Benjamin's. This is what Hopslam should be. F*ing good. Looked at ratings, but noticed the numbers of reviews were rather small. Any current feeling on this brewery? Anyone tried Anything else. Good, bad , indifferent. Is this a under the radar brewery?

One of the best breweries out there.

They aren't particular under-the-radar in the region, they just have no distribution (until recently) and their bottling options aren't consistent (by design).

Personally I am a fan. Used to pick up growlers and bottles when I would drive from Chicago back to Ann Arbor when I was living there. Now that I am back in Chicago permanently, I don't get the chance to try their stuff as option, but I like their approach - like Pipeworks they put a lot of stuff out there and sometimes they hit it out of the park, but they never produce anything undrinkable. Looking forward to trying Brother Benjamin when I get a chance.

I could not believe how great Mr. Hyde was. Their 1825 confirmed that I am not a fan of belgian strongs. Distorter was only ok. Found the MicroMegas on tap and that was pretty nice. For some unknown reason I passed on picking up a bottle of their barrel aged RIS and I may never forgive myself

Delusion was incredible. Definitely could hold it's own with the big boys. Get back there!

Please dont tell me anymore. It was the second stop of our beercation through MI and I spent $50 on a FFF Murda'd Out the night before, I was trying to curtail my spending.

It was a little pricey from what I recall at $20 for a bomber. I went back and forth and then walked out without purchasing at the last second.

I like a lot of there regulars, but they also have some great seasonals that are harder to come by. I got a growler of Doomslayer last autumn that was darn tasty.

I think it's going for $18 a bomber. Close enough though.

The wife and I were just at Greenbush last Thursday as a stop on our beercation. Loved the Brother Benjamin...have a 4-pack sitting in the fridge at home right now.

BroBen is absolutely amazing on draft and picked up some bottles from the pub a few months ago. I wish they would team up with Haymarket again to brew sock chicken...what an amazing ipa. As for their BA brews, Cabra Perdida is a killer beer, along with Delusion.

I've only had a few as I'm too far to visit the brewery, but Anger is amazing, as already mentioned. I had something at beerfest that I remember I really like, but because it was beerfest I can't remember which one I had. Hahaha. Found Closure at a liquor store in my town (Belleville), and it was ok. Not really memorable. I really want to try more of their beers, though.

I stopped in there a couple of weeks ago on the return trek from Kuhnhenn and bought 2 bombers of Delusion. The first was opened at a tasting and was straight butter. I'm hoping it was just a bad bottle and the other tastes like I'm hoping it should. With that said, everything else I drank on tap was pretty good.

Okay... I'll bite. And I'm not trolling either. I do not think Greenbush makes good beer. At all. In fact I think it is very mediocre beer. I think they have a great brewpub with a cool atmosphere, and some good food, but that's about it.

Greenbush granted has a unique situation... they blew up FAST. Why? I think it's because of the local feel. MI locals flocked to it and embraced it (no offense MI BAs). The demand for GB's beer is too high for them to meet the demand, and in order to bridge the gap, they rush the brewing process. Have any of you actually looked at a beer poured for you at GB? It is practically a solid.

Additionally, nearly every beer from GB has a same distinct taste to it. Has NO ONE else noticed this? I have friends who are not beer nerds who have come to GB with me and even they make this observation. It's a certain residual sweetness, which completely throws off the mouthfeel, and lingers for too long on each and every beer in a bad way.

I guess I just don't understand the hype. I know, I know, "If you don't like them, don't go there." Which is exactly why I stopped months ago.

EDIT: I've been flamed by GB staff for my thoughts on their business here. Sorry? Take it as constructive criticism. You have the potential to be something awesome if you quit trying to expand so quickly and focus on taking your time with your recipes.
