Had my first Greenpoint beer last night (Night Life).. Super good stuff. Not as sweet or "thick" as what Other Half or Grimm is releasing, but honestly, in this weather, I've been craving IPAs that have a bit more bitterness and finish a little cleaner. And that El Dorado + Mosaic combo is unexpectedly excellent.

I had one of each of the new ones tonight- they're different from one another stylistically, but each is quite good in its own way, which is a great sign from any brewery.

The Continuous Feedback is in the "soft hazy" style, quite dry with a nice mouthfeel, full of tangerine, grapefruit, riding a solid MJ dankness wave. Great balance overall, with no real rough edges; it's the beer that Boom Sauce wants to be.

Deep Focus has a more conventional feel to it, tropical/citrus/pine/dank- pretty much every hoppy quality in harmony- firm but dry malt backbone, really brings Stone Enjoy By to mind, but more refined in flavor. I could drink a real shitload of this one.

Continuous Feedback is a damn near perfect IPA. Juiciness upfront, nice bitter hit on the finish. Very nice. These guys are doing a great job lately.

Deep Focus is incredibly balanced between pine, bitter and sweet. I drank 2 of them last night and enjoyed them way too quickly for a DIPA. I really enjoyed it.

This was my first Greenpoint beer, which I thoroughly enjoyed last night. The fact that it's easily accessible via Whole foods is great. How is their brewery/tasting room?

Big. Food menu and a full bar. Worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. Good place to start or end a Greenpoint/Williamsburg beer day. Usually plenty of space. It can get a little busy on the weekends during brunch hours when the weather is nice.

Only downside is that some of the bartenders are not super knowledgeable about their beers.

I have had a bunch of Greenpoint beers in the past but now am starting to lose track of them. No complaints whatsoever but of late they continue to put out brand new beers nearly every week... Given how many great beers are out there in NYC, and the fact that you basically have to buy a 4 pack, it seems as if you have to take a flyer on each new beer (once again, I am not complaining!)... My experience in the past has been that many of their beers are solid to very good, but rarely up there among the best IPA/DIPA we have access to in the NYC area (OH, Grimm, LIC's best, and seems like some Interboro starting to be of that caliber); of late do people think they have improved to be at that level? Seems the scattered reviews/commentary on this forum would say maybe; the ratings (albeit few) on BA seem to tell a different story, with their first few offerings being among their highest rated.... any thoughts?

I'd definitely put them up there. Their best is on par with NYC's best. Bathmophobia was one of the best DIPAs I've had this year.

I feel like they've really hit their stride lately, I loved Instant Credibility and Tremendous was also excellent.

Agreed. I don't have regular access to OH so I can't really comment there, but I'd put Greenpoint's best on par with Grimm and LIC. Bathmophobia, Interstellar, Tremendous and Night Life were all fantastic.

I think Greenpoint is entering the upper echelon right now. I just had an alt universe and a night life and they were on par with a lot of recent OH releases (DDH DMDaydream excluded). Thats only IPA's. I would say that a lot of their other styles are on point also. Kind of becoming NYC's Night Shift.

Late addition to the conversation but I agree that Greenpoint is in the top tier at this point, if not necessarily the top slot within that tier. They're gunning for OH but not quite there yet.

There is SERIOUS competition for next-best hoppy brewery in NYC tho... Personally I'd put Greenpoint, LICBP and maybe Singlecut pretty much at neck and neck, with Interboro, Finback, Threes and KCBC slightly behind. Grimm doesn't count yet, but will shake things up quite a bit once they do.

Expanding towards LI (Barrier, Sand City) and the Hudson Valley (Equilibrium, District 96) makes things even more interesting. Would be interested to see folks rank their faves at this point, as things are changing super fast and official BA ratings are a bit slow to catch up (also would be interesting to compare local perspectives vs BA ratings from all over the country that may be more susceptible to OH hype).

Does anyone know if there are still cans of Low Res available at the brewery? Beermenus says yes, but not sure if they update cans regularly on there. One of my favorite beers from Greenpoint thus far and they've put out some stellar offerings lately.

Just popped in to the thread to comment as a visitor last weekend to nyc, I had low res and cognition as both were at Whole Foods Chelsea and they were great.
I had never heard of greenpoint until browsing here for things to look out for on my trip, so thanks. How nice to have those kind of things "on the shelf."

I was pretty disappointed to notice that after my first visit here, my credit card was charged $5 more than what my bill was. I tried talking to them about it a few times with no resolution at all. Not that the $5 is a big deal, its just the principle of it, and pretty shitty that they couldn't even get back to me in any way.

Did you pay with a credit card? Dispute the charge.
