    Hey all,

I'm vacationing in Greensboro for the next few days and was wondering if there's anything specific I should be looking for? I've already got Jade IPA and NoDa Hop Drop and Roll on my radar and will be hitting up Foothills. Any chance of finding Snozzberry anywhere or anything else I should be checking out? Thanks in advance!

I think Snozzberry is long gone, unfortunately. A few key bottle shops around here have just started to use beermenus.com and that is a great way to see what is available. A new brew pub, Small Batch, in Winston-Salem is worth a stop as it is close to Foothills.

Be sure to hit Bestway on Walker Ave. Sticks and Stones is close by and always has great taps going and the food is good.

Definitely stop by Bestway. Great selection.

If you're going to Foothills, down the street from that is City Beverage which is awesome. I used to make the Foothills and City Beverage pilgrimage whenever I was in Winston for business.

    For beer stores, I recommend:
    - Bestway (Greensboro)
    - City Beverage (Winston-Salem)
    - Stella Brew (Winston-Salem)

    For breweries/brew pubs, I recommend:
    - Foothills (Winston-Salem)
    - Small Batch (Winston-Salem)
    - Liberty Steakhouse (High Point)

    For bars/restaurants, I recommend:
    - Sticks N Stones - Pizza (Greensboro)
    - Mellow Mushroom - Pizza (Greensboro and Winston-Salem)
    - Brixx - Pizza (Greensboro)

Also, you might still be able to grab Sexual Chocolate at either Foothills, City Beverage, or Stella Brew.

Think Sexual Chocolate was still on tap at the brew pub the other day. Mellow Winston had a vertical last night of 2011-2014, though I'm not sure how much is left of the older 2 because I believe they were sixtels.

Why am I the only asking, "why are you vacationing in GSO?"

but if you miss Bestway, youre doing Greensboro all wrong.

All the advice above is excellent.

I would also note that Pipe and Pint in Greensboro sometimes has some beers that have been sold out in other places so they are worth a visit.

Potent Potables in Jamestown combines a taproom with a bottle shop. They also have a rotating cast of food trucks that stop by so you can look over their selection, grab a pint and a bit to eat - kill three birds with one stone, so to speak.

The obvious answer to your query is; "Why not?" I suppose that the gist of your question has negative implications. If so, I would venture that you know nothing about not only GSO, but about large portions of the state that you reside in! Let me know if that is not correct.

Bestway and Sticks and Stones are great suggests and close to each other. S&S rotates their taps frequently and generally has great selections. They also have a good bottle selection. Bestway has the "Wall of Beer" and the best selection in Gboro. No one has mentioned it but Natty Greene's in downtown Gboro has a good draft selection - generally better than what they bottle.

Greensboro isnt normally thought of a vacation destination unless family. I know theres a great bottle shop (Bestway) and draft spot (Mellow Mushroom). I know theres a few more spots that I cant think of off hand, but most people when they travel to NC, go to either Asheville, Charlotte, or the Triangle. There's a higher concentration of breweries in those areas that have a wider area that knows their names. Greensboro on the other hand has one (Natty Greene's) that makes beer, but I have yet to have anything I thought was really worth mentioning in the greats of the state category.

That's fine. This place flies beautifully under the radar. Other than probably the best municipal park system in the state, the world class Sciquarium, and Guilford Battleground Park (the last battle of the revolution before the surrender of the British at Yorktown)- plus a genuine bohemian edge to much of the city surrounding UNCG and downtown- it's easy to recognize that being understated pays many dividends. I simply want you to know that there is deep history in Greensboro that is often overlooked and unknown. No offense, please. People from all over the world visit, love the place, and frequently locate here for good. Raleigh, Charlotte, and Asheville are better beer destinations.

no offense taken! since this is a beer forum, I just figured were all obsessed with beer and vacation strictly for beer (totally thick sarcasm).

You could take a little trip up the hill and hit a little booze shop in the mountains that could have everything your looking for! It's a pretty little scenic drive!

Not sure if it's too late , but I'd highly recommend Bull City Burgers in Durham. Great burgers brew pub that specializes on English style brews true to style. McCools in Greensboro has great Irish food and Irish and English brews on tap too.

Liberty Steakhouse is really damn good. Beers aren't stellar but good and the food is awesome.

    Hello guys!
I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll reply to this one. I will be heading to Greensboro over the weekend for a wedding and wanted to know if there are any new spots to check out or any locations that have stepped it up the past year? I'm primarily looking for one to two beer shops, one bar or two and any restaurants for lunch.
I'll be flying out of Raleigh.

Thank you for your ideas and advice.
