I'll be moving from Asheville to Greenville soon, for a new job. I'm aware of the breweries in proximity to that area, so I'm wondering more about bottle shops, homebrew shops, and bars. There's a few listed on here but without many reviews. Thanks
I wish I could tell you the selection is better, but it is what it is... Cindirene's in Ayden (about 10 miles south of Greenville) is your best bet. Chuck, who owns the place, is super nice and can order anything that distributes in the area. He always has 2-3 beers on tap in the shop and lots of cold bottles in the cooler that you can consume while shopping. His approach and demeanor are the polar opposite of Winslows (see below) In town, Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter at University Common have the widest selection of craft/imports. Be sure to check expiration dates -- there are still Christmas beers on the shelf at both stores. We apparently have distributors that don't give a crap about beer in this region. This is a college town and BMC light products rule (sadly). Winslow's Markets downtown is (IMHO) a wannabe beer bar/store. They have a half decent selection but are both overpriced and uninformed. I give them my $ only as a last result. I'm afraid that moving from Beer City USA to Greenville may be quite a downer for you (and not just in elevation from the mountains to the coastal plain!)
Thanks. I know the scene won't be the same as here, just thought I'd see what was around prior to getting there. I appreciate the feedback.
Well, the good news is that some of the best BBQ joints in the state are located within a one hour drive radius. Hope you are not a vegetarian.
