    Noob here.

Thanks to all for sharing your wealth of knowledge - hope to add in small part to what you do here.

Zhiguli is a Russian beer, most notably during the Soviet Era, this was the only beer in the country with over 700 breweries. It was state controlled and was omnipresent. I sort of nostalgically miss that kind of simplicity, but am pretty sure I've decided that I prefer to have a large choice of dank beers of 2012 SoCal instead.

Did I read the OP correctly? There was only one beer but it was brewed by 700 breweries? Talk about a tough vertical tasting.

The Zhiguli paragraph threw me off. I couldn't tell if you were some PR person for Zhiguli, a KBG agent slyly trying to root out Russian expatriates or what.

It's 11% alcohol? Whew. That'll put some hair on Svetlana's chest.

That's the Parasite version. The Worker one was only 2%.

Welcome Zhiguli! Plenty of choice here, but we'll definitely help you navigate these crazy seas.

Is that red spot between the labels a back label or something floating in the beer? Also is 11% the ABV? If so, now I see why the government wants to curtail beer drinking [there's another post floating around about this].

That's probably degree Plato. I remember how all the Prague expat hipsters in the 90s used to brag about having drunk 5 10% beers. The actual ABV was around 4%.

    Welcome!
I'm not understanding, all 700 breweries brewed nothing but Zhiguli?

Hey BAs - it just dawned on me. InBevA-B wants the U.S.A. to be like the U.S.S.R. beer wise.
