I've been a big fan of grey sail for a while now and decided to finally check out their HQ. Easy enough to find and a well laid out place. My girlfriend and I went in and were promptly greeted by one of the workers behind the bar and a couple locals that seemed to be hanging around for a while.

We had the option of hopping on with a tour that was just starting or hanging out and sampling some beers first and grabbing the next one.

Obviously we decided to get a couple free beers before they started. We had the Flagship which ended up being one of the first beers that my girlfriend has liked since we started trying to find one. Then moved on to the flying jenny which is easily one of my favorite pale ales. Then moved on to the leaning chimney and they still had their octoberfest. The leaning chimney porter is a good example of the style, not an overly thick mouthfeel but good flavors all around and the malt profile of the octoberfest is great, nice sweet flavor and a really good octoberfest.

The tour itself was pretty good, we went with the owner (Alan I think?) and he showed us around, a pretty small place but he was really into answering everyones questions and even put a can in the sealer to show us how it worked. I found that pretty cool because it really shows how small of an operation it is to see how it takes 3 people to man the canning line just to get the top on where I've seen some really serious automated lines at other places.

If youre there you have the option of tasting from little 6oz. plastic cups or you can buy a 5.00 glass can that is a pretty cool glass and you get unlimited refills while youre there. I will definitely be back, and I highly suggest anyone else go if you want to try out good local beer.

    Cheers!

They only do tours on Saturdays but its a great place. Definitely recommend taking the trip to Sons of Liberty distillery in Wakefield too. They also only do Saturday tours.
