That's annoying, I was just right there! I had Afterimage on tap at Pony Hell's Kitchen.

People driving in from Lancaster PA and south Jersey snapping up these cans today. Lurker game strong. Be forewarned.

    (hi, whoever you are!)

Haven't seen any other stores get it on the Island. We sold out day after it arrived, Tuesday, 2 per person limit.

Struck out on Afterimage, but I was able to grab two bottles of Super Symmetry so at least there's that.

I liked this thread better when it was about the new beers from the folks at Grimm, instead of a display of the grasping and silly desperation of Beer Hype. Not that I am 100% immune from such hype, but where's the line between the appreciation of a well-crafted beer, and the subsuming of the actual qualities of that beer by acquisitive mania?

I understand @rollom point and I definitely get the altering opinion, but how are you not supposed to help out your fellow NY BA?

I've perused enough of these forums to conclude (haha, probably biased, of course) that our NYC/LI contingent is one of the best around, most informed and, generally intelligent veterans of the drinking game...whatever you want to call it.

If I have a chance to inform you guys whether or not I got "X" beer at "X" location am I gonna post it here? You damn right. While the net effect might be detrimental in the long run, I might not know any of you fucks, I think you guys are ok and if I can help out, I will.

I will never understand this "Beer Hype". There is so much good beer around - why go across the city to buy a can or two of 5.99 beer? I don't get it. People have nothing else better to do? If the beer is there buy it - if not move on get something else. I'm pissed at myself for having to just read all about which place might have a can or two. If they can't make enough - maybe they should just sell it from one location instead of randomly distributing it to a few stores. Maybe thats part of the hype building plan and its obviously turned into a circus quickly - but I don't want to waste my time with this type of crowd.

I hate to say, and not that I disagree with you, but this is the way it is now. There's no turning back and there's no way you can blame Grimm for that. They spread the wealth around pretty good, IMO.

Nah - I'm not going to get into that game. More for you guys. When its at a local growler fill place, I'll go for it but no way I would ever go hunting for beer, when tons of other options are around. Especially when I can go to a brewery and stock up at the source.

    Hunt beers?
I can't speak for the others in this thread, I have 3 to-go "locals" in Manhattan and if I can't find what I want in them...oh well. I always buy something when I go somewhere.

Yea judging from the people I've talked to, they said only 2 cases made it to LI. One would have been your store and the other was Beverage Plus in Floral Park. What a bummer. I really wanted to try this beer but couldn't get to your store due to all things real life (I'll get there eventually regardless!). Just shitty to hear that places in CT got more cases than LI.

    Oh well, next time hopefully!

FOMO, wanting what you can't have, keeping up with the Joneses, ticking, etc. All of this is alive and well in the craft beer game now, it is human nature whether it is an iPhone or a can of beer. This is an excellent beer, but people are going nuts for the privilege of buying one or two cans for $5 or $6 a can!! It's crazy now. Wait until this beer comes out next time, hype train will be going 200 mph and it will be crazier than it is now.

really? I can't say I've ever felt that before. that must be a really unnecessary stressful addition to one's life when we're just talking about beer.

I agree with everything you're saying here, but you got some serious blinders on if you don't see what's going on now.

I'm 38 and I drank beers like Aventinus, Salvator, Schlenkerla, etc almost 20 years ago. Despite all the great beer out there now, there are 100x the amount of consumers out there now then there were even 5 years ago.

You don't want to play this game, I hate to say it, don't comment. It sucks, but (and I hate this phrase) it is what it is. Nothing either of us can do about it.

Your right, but this is basic human nature that breweries either unintentionally with great beer or intentionally are tapping into. Tomorrow morning people will be lined up at OH two hours before they open to get their hands on their beer. Some will have legitimate reasons for getting there early, some will fall victim to FOMO.
