Just got Pulse Wave and DN in LI a few hours ago. Pulse Wave is amazing. I'm so glad a local brewery made an IPA that doesnt taste like fruit juice. Dont get me wrong, I love tropical flavors but sometimes its a bit much.

 

Just picked it up from the same place, you already opened one?

 

Yea I picked up 2 cans that were in the fridge on my way home from the gym at around 6pm. By the time I opened it at 7:45 it was cold enough. Very, very good.

 

@markgugs did you try pulse yet? I had the same feelings about equinox but this beer is great. I thought afterimage was horrible and glad I didn't pass on this one.

 

Anyone see these (Pulse Wave/Double Negative) around lower NY state yet? Mainly Rockland/Westchester. I'm hoping Cable gets it today or tomorrow, but for the last release, they had them on a Saturday. Not a bad thing but I work 10 minutes away, so hoping today or tomorrow.

 

Lower Westchester received this week...picked some up in Yonkers/Ardsley yesterday.

 

what'd you think was horrible about afterimage?

 

sweetness, lack of bitterness and fruity yeasty flavor tasted like one of my failed homebrews.

 

I agree. Happy to know I wasn't the only person that wasn't a huge fan of this one.

 

funny, my thoughts are the exact opposite. pulse just doesnt do it for me. absolutely loved afterimage but i got massive band-aid flavor out of pulse wave. about 10 minutes after i got a text from a buddy who also said "jesus its just bandaids". different strokes, i guess.

Some(cough) stores in my area of Westchester should be seeing it today also.

Both beers seemed complex though subdued. I enjoyed the fruitiness of Afterimage much, much more, but I'm noticing all I want in an IPA these days is a hoppy fruit bomb. I appreciate that neither has much in the way of bitterness. I find OH IPAs to be considerably more harsh (not in a bad way) and I like that both are (somewhat) available to us in the city!

This year's double negative though... is awesome. I describe it as chocolate milk for grown ups and a great bargain at $11-15 across the city.

 

Just had Pulse Wave and Double Negative on tap at Rattle N Hum, both are really great beers.

 

Crap, I totally forgot to swing by WF Columbus yesterday. Anyone see Dbl Negative around Midtown? If not, do yall think WF Bowery still has some based on what stock you saw this weekend?

 

^^^ Nvm, WF Columbus said they didnt get it yesterday but may have got it today but not received. Personal crisis averted.

just got pulse wave at beer boutique on union ave in bk for $5.99 - limit one pp.

i thought all the whole foods were getting their shipment on friday, no?

 

I have not sir, I've been in Anaheim since Monday for work, don't get back until Saturday. I think someone's got a can for me. Excited to try for sure!

 

Drinking one now, I much preferred Afterimage.
