I had 2nd year Cascades in a 10 gallon pot that yielded several lbs with very minimal effort on my part. I made a DIPA using only hops that I grew. They helped produce a great beer and it was quite rewarding.

Last year I attempted to grow 4 varieties: Cascade, Centennial, Columbus and Willamette. The Columbus and Willamette never made it out of the soil. The Cascade and Centennial did really well for first year hops.

I am in NC, which is probably less ideal for hops than PA.

The area that we're going to use is in a gulley kinda thing, with cliffs on two sides, and a hill on one side. There's direct sun a good part of the day, but not all day. The temperature down there is also cooler. I hope it'll work. Really the worst that could happen is that I'll spend a few bucks on rhizomes and they won't grow. :astonished:
