I work at a bottle shop that uses the CrafTap counter-pressure system, and I agree that I prefer the swing-top closures better. The metal screw-tops are fine for one use, but I feel that the seal on them is compromised in that one use. When a customer brings in a glass growler with a screw-top, I always replace the old one.

The one downside of the glass growler is the rare occasion that a flaw in the glass will fracture and explode under the pressure of the CO2 before the fill. That's one of the reasons that the towers have plexi locking doors on them.

Of course, metal growlers are great, but in a counter-pressure system, opaque growlers take some skill to learn to fill.
