at $15 it better be damn near rare, one off, or super hoppy. Im covering their shipping and bottling cost, so meet me somewhere. I stopped buying $25 growler at fills at Great Lakes. Yes LEM, Independance Ale, and Hop Madness are FANTASTIC, but I cant afford that crap. Id rather buy a growler (including the glass--i already own a GLBC growler) and a fill of something from Willoughby like their Peanut Butter Cup Porter, Moonshadow, or that other DIPA than drop $25 for just the liquid from GLBC.

Sierra Nevada was doing growler fills of Hoptimum for $28, it was kinda laughable. I went down to the gift shop 100ft away, bought 2 (4packs) for $20, and got 32 more ounces. Lame.

Funny thing is that Great Lakes growler fills are roughly 1/2 price at Whole Foods and Heinen's. GL rips people off(mostly unsuspecting brewery tour people that don't know better) with growler fills of Dortmuder and Edmund Fitzgerald without batting an eye.

i never could fill a growler of something that I could get back home. If I drove 2+ hours to the brewery, theres no way in hell Im grabbing a growler of Eddy Fitz (I do love the beer). im always grabbing Market Street Wheat, Big Black Smoke, Alberta Clipper, or Wit's End.

I know, just pointing out how GL takes advantage of the ignorant. I lost respect for them when I questioned a bartender, asking why they didn't tell these people 6 packs were available for a much cheaper price. 12-15 for the fill, plus hard selling the swing top growlers = douche move(even the screw-top jugs are 10 bucks).

I bought my swing top growler from them before I knew a damn thing, and its famous down here among anyone that will fill it. Triangle Brewing knows its mine without even seeing me.

Wow, SN is way overcharging but if people are stupid enough to buy it, why not? Hill Farmstead DIPAs are way less, $18 for 2 liters, +$10 for the swing top if you don't have one already (non-HF growlers are allowed). And they don't even have to compete with their own 4-packs.

Everyone is talking $$$$ on the growler issue and sure, if the beer is also available in bottles and is significantly cheaper then of course go with the bottles. But there is something to be said about bringing home a growler of fresh draft beer. All things being equal, i'll take the draft over the bottle any day and will even pay a small premium for the growler over the bottles.

I bought a growler of moloko for 12$ at whole foods when the bottles cost 9.99. I would say that is a pretty good deal.

On the plus side of a growler fill you can get a taster of the beer before it's filled and know exactly what you're going to get.

Vs. the endless bitching about bottled IPA's around here.

A liquor store close to my home has Houblon Chouffe available for $32. Highest price I've seen for a growler refill.
