Just trying to do some research about growler fills. If you could comment on how much it costs to buy a growler from your local brewery empty and then to get it filled. That would be much help thanks!

Alley Kat in Edmonton charge $5.00 for a growler, and then $11.00 for their core range, and $14.00 for the Dragon DIPA & seasonal series.

It really ranges in Ontario. Usually the staple is 5$ for your regular brown growler, but some are getting into the trendy and ridiculous with Amsterdam and Steamwhislte opting for one in the 50$+. Niagara's Best/The Syndicate are 10$, Publican house is 11$, then in Toronto the prices get insane anywhere from the 15 - 30$ range. In Ontario the nanny-state says, "no refilling growlers from other breweries", some will in the sly, most won't so that sucks.

Forgot to add that a lot of the local liquor stores pricing for brown growlers & howlers is similar to Alley Kat, but some are now offering the branded stainless steel/protected versions for anywhere from $60+. The fills range from $11.00 to over $20.00, depending on the beer. One large chain liquor store even goes above $30.00 for fills!

Here is Brassneck's pricing list. About average for Vancouver. You can bring in any growler you want as long as clean to most places.

Yeah Brassneck is a good average for Vancouver. There are a couple places that are a bit cheaper outside of the city (Steel & Oak, Four Winds), and then there is Storm Brewing who charge $16 for their limited release stuff in a 1.89L ($11 for a 1L I think)

In Calgary there are a few places

Vine Arts - 2 taps, growler empty is $10 I beleive and 12-16$ for fill depending on beer
Liquor Depot - a couple locations, 10$for glass also and 12-20$ for fill depending on beer (6-12 taps i believe)
    5 Vines - $6 for 1L, $8 for 2L glassware. fills are 10-14 for 1L and 15-20 for 2L depending on beer

Breweries - big rock sells growler fills at the brewery for $18 (i believe) including glassware for a 2L
village sells their growlers in stores for 17-19 depending on store including glassware for 2l. about $17 at brewery and i think 12 for a refill.
