The first issue is interesting, but not essential. I was hoping that it would be a magazine equivalent of "Beer Geeks TV", with mostly local content, but there wasn't much local content at all. I already subscribe to Beer Advocate Magazine. I don't want The Growler to be a clone of that.
I'm flipping through the magazine right now and honestly, I don't see any content that isn't local. Sure you are reading The Growler?
I thought it was pretty comprehensive, if you're into MN craft beer, you'll be able to find something that provides new insight for you.
Not sure what magazine you were reading? I thought it was all local beside the music content which I really enjoyed! My favorite was the article from the BBS Guy Rob. Great read cannot wait till the next issue!
Any idea if they will have a snail mail subscription. I checked the website and couldn't find anything. It woudl be a nice read here in the Roch...
According to the mags website: " Published by The Beer Dabbler—producers of craft beer sampling events in and around the Twin Cities since 2008—you will be able to pick up this magazine at your favorite beer stores, restaurants and bars across the Twin Cities. This complimentary magazine will be published every two months with a mission to educate and entertain a wide spectrum of craft beer drinkers." They also say though that "This website – growlermag.com – will also host much of the content found in the magazine – and more! " -I hope they add snail mail as well at some point. Maybe once they get enough business to run a few thousand extra copies for residential delivery
Maybe you could be their designated contact person in Rochester? Y'know, they can send you a bundle of mags and you can drive around from place to place dropping off a handful at each place, kinda like what "Whispering Jeff" Platt did back in the day...
That's a great idea. I'll shoot them an email and see. I can think of a couple places that might be up for the mag. Shout out to minnesotaryan he's going to hook me up with one. Very cool!! On a side note, I was disappointed to see a beer review on the website by Surdyk's...that place still aggravates me.
