Special releases vary, but town hall growlers are generally $10. Just a crazy good deal. We get growlers there more often than anywhere else.

Yessir. That's not including the glass fee. I think Fair state is often around $15 for a fill. Most places seem to hover around the $15 range these days.

$15 maybe in the Twin Cities. A lot of outstate range from 12-14. Bent Paddle refills are $10

Heck, this past fall they were only $9 and you get a $1 discount for bringing in their cardboard double growler carrier (which is free).

Yeah, $10 for a Town Hall 64 oz is a pretty solid deal. Might have to start doing that now that I live a few blocks from TH Lanes.

Unfortunately, you can't get growlers anywhere but the brewery - awesome laws and stuff.

I believe that only THB can do growlers.

TH Lanes sells growlers? I thought they could only do that at THB?

Bent Paddle I should point out still points out on their website they cannot legally fill other growlers because as they say here: (according to the new MN statute the growler still needs to reflect appropriate origination and contents labeling).

That is true but easily done with little sticky labels like many places do. At least Bent Paddle will exchange a different growler for theirs.

I think most of Wild Mind's growler fills are $15. Some of their stuff like their ciders are $20. I think I paid $25 for one of their growlers with a fill. If you have one of their growlers, you get a couple extra ounces because they are 2L instead of 64oz.

A beer better be pretty solid for me to spend $15 or more for a growler. But there are some breweries charging $20 for average beers. Not to pick on them, because they're not the only ones, but Angry Inch has many $6 pint beers and sells those growlers for $20. So, in theory, they're giving the customer a discount for taking four pints home, but I happened to think the original $6 price point is inflated. Again, they're not the only ones doing it, but they came to mind. Hammerheart, while making great beers, charges mostly $20 for growler fills. They do have some $15 ones.

Jack Pine makes great beer. They're obviously known for the Vengeance jalapeno beer. It's great. But they want $18 for a growler. I think it's $5 for a 12 oz pour in the taproom. It's something like 4.5 ABV. Yes, jalapenos cost money, but that much? I don't know, I'm not a brewer, but that's my thought as a consumer.

Places like Bent Paddle have a great price point, but I'm not interested in getting flagships that can be found in the store (period, because there's access to them elsewhere) and especially for a similar price point. Yes, taproom beer should be slightly fresher, but I want to take home beer I can't get anywhere else (and they have those options, too). It's the exclusivity, to me, that makes growler purchases fun. So, if I can get a taproom-only beer for $10, I'd do that all day long.

A recent good purchase (since I shared a couple downers for me) was Bad Weather. They do $12 fills for most beers and $18 for specialty beers. Though I expected it to be a specialty beer, their raspberry brown ale was a $12 fill. Great beer, great price.

Agreed, $10 for a 64 oz growler is about $11 for a 6-pack, which sounds about right for most standard local offerings. For local specialty stuff I've happily paid about $10 for a 4 pack which ends up at about $13 or a growler. Granted the economy of things is different for smaller breweries and a couple bucks here or there isn't a big deal, but I'd have a hard time paying $15-$20 for a growler of anything that wasn't pretty special.
