A lot longer than paranoid beer geeks will tell you. A properly sealed growler, kept cold will last weeks. 3-4 weeks easy. The last growler I drank was kept in my fridge for a month and there was no lack of carbonation, flavor drop, mouthfeel, anything like that. Actually, I shared it with a paranoid beer geek and he almost didn't believe how old the growler was. Once it's opened, it's recommended to finish it the same day/night. 36 hrs, maybe 2 days.

Months-If it goes flat shake it up a bit -it adds carbonation
but remember to put the cap on first

The issue with open growlers is carbonation. If you don't need a carbonated mouthfeel, an open growler can last longer. For me personally, I can enjoy stouts even if they get on the flatter side. As such, I can stretch growlers of stouts for about 4 or 5 days. Certainly a decline in quality, but still drinkable.

IPA's or saisons, I want those finished no later than the next day when you already notice the difference.

Concur 100%. 36-48 hours max after opening. I tend to fill a lot of growlers and will have a pint or two then seal and put back in my fridge. Most of the time, it is very good the next day, it seems the more beer left the better chances for good carbonation are, so I tend to just have a couple tulip's of brew unless the boys are over watching games together then its a no brainer.

    Cheers.........

I've gone 6 months with no problem (and a cheap cap), but nobody would recommend doing that or make any assurance that you would have the same results.

I have opened a growler that I let sit in my fridge for over a month and it was fine. Just make sure it is filled to the top and you shouldn't have a problem.

Once you open it, drink it in one sitting. If you don't, it will have very little carbonation the next day.

If filled properly and stored properly, it can last a long time. Depends on the beer too.

I just opened a growler of DRIPA that a friend had kept in his fridge for 2 months (why? Don't ask me!). Still tasted great when we opened it.

I've also had stout growlers that were over a year old and they also tasted great.
