When you return an empty growler for a refill do most pubs give you a different growler that is bone dry clean? If not, is it ok for them to refill your growler that has a bit of water left over from cleaning? I apologize if these are dumb questions but I have never dealt with growlers before.
Most places will rinse out a growler prior to refills, sometimes water lingers in the bottom, shouldn't hurt anything
No brewery that I've ever visited will give you a different growler than the one you walked in with. Once you pay for a growler, it's yours.
My local Lowes Food gives you a clean one from their stock if you bring in one of their branded growlers. I always wash and let air dry (upside down) when I return my growlers.
I've been to places that will do a swap for their own branded. I've never been to a place that has done a rinse for me. Honestly, I just run them through the dishwasher before refills - it's been fine.
