I'm planning on visiting Cigar City, Cycle, and hopefully 7venth Sun during a short trip down there this week, and was wondering how growler sales work at these (all?) Florida breweries. Will they fill any growlers? I have a ton of empty 32oz screwcap growlers, and an equal amount of tall 750ml (think Hill Farmstead/Tired Hands-style) growlers. Can I bring them and use them?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

as long as they aren't 64oz growlers, you should be fine.

Ok great to know. I knew there was something hinkey about growler fills in FL but couldn't remember what. Now to hope that the 32oz jugs fit in my travel styro shipper!

@markgugs Both CCB and Cycle offer 32oz Crowlers (huge ass can) of all their "growler"-able beers with the exception of sours. I mention this because the crowlers are just a giant can and therefore keep longer and travel better than a growler. Also, they weigh less in case you are shipping or dealing with baggage limits. The cost of getting a crowler is only $1 + the cost of the growler fill. Plus, they are completely badass.

Also, not sure when you're going to be down but CCB does a special, limited growler/crowler beer every tuesday at noon.

750ml can be filled too... depends on if the brewery itself will fill it

this is awesome news! I've gotten some Due South crowlers shipped to me but didn't know CCB & Cycle did them as well. They'll definitely fit in my travel bag! thanks man!

Does anyone know if there are limits on how many crowlers you're allowed to purchase at CCB or Cycle?

I don't know if any limits but they were having issues with the system the last time so I left Crowlerless :slight_frown:

Legally, anything up to and including 32oz OR 128oz and over.
    Nothing in-between.

No limit except for the patience of the bartender. I have seen a certain guy get about 20 crowlers from cycle.

I wish cycle had a website like CCBs so I could always know what was on tap and available for growlers before I commit to driving down there

so that part is key...should I bring the tall thin-necked Hill Farm-style? I only ask because they fit in the styro shipper really, really well.
haha, I won't be THAT guy Ryan. I probably only want 15 tops

Probably will depend on who is behind the bar at what ever brewery you are at. They may not have the access to change a price in the register based on size or make that decision to do something they don't have a price for.

@Lasering Always make sure to buy Fixie crowlers for your dog sitter! They really appreciate it.

Most places I've been to don't care if its the tall thin neck sytle or the small jug like 32oz style. (Ive seen more breweries in fl using the tall thin neck style anyway).

I have seen places get annoyed about the 750ml growlers though. Legally they can fill them but it depends on the stores policy.

Also worth noting that some of the local ABC Liquor stores do growler fills and likely have a bunch of local stuff on tap that's worth getting (sometimes they'll have a keg or 2 of CCB / Swamphead a few weeks after the cans have sold out across the board)
