I almost exclusively drunk Guinness for almost four years before moving to the US, in general I found the quality better in Ireland but some of the worse Guinnness I've had has been in Ireland (the worse was in Melbourne Australia).
The worse places I found in Ireland were the real busy places that probably weren't depending on people enjoying their beer, just people out to get plastered quickly to bery loud music, and paying handsomely for the honor.

There is in fact a good reason for this myth. Simply that for some time Guinness in Ireland was served on cask whereas in the rest of the world it was on keg.So there was an added dimension in flavour and nuances in Irish Guinness.
Sadly all Guinness is now dumbed down by being kegged , and doubly dumbed by being on nitro too. Even the bottled version hasn't been bottle condidioned since 1993 ; at the time the BBC's Food and Drink programme said "Bottled Guinness is not fit to carry the Guinness name"

I'm lucky the Quincy / Milton area has the largest Irish population in the state so it's always fresh.
Before someone replies that " No Southie does " I'm talking about real fresh off the boat (most likely plane ) Irish . Not Irish Americans which I also happen to be.

I feel appearance is important. I also like Guinness. I also, also believe these 2 statements ^ to be true.

Last time I can remember having Guinness was 2 years ago on St. Patty's day in Los Angeles. I remember the other choices were green Bud light or Green Coors light. It was not poured properly into a plastic cup. But in situations were there are tons or beers being poured, Im not expecting the bartender to take their time to pour the proper pint. In busy situations, I would be happy to get the beer I ordered.

As for BWW, if the company was taking more time to pour one of the beers because they are required to pour Guinness "properly", it would probably be replaced with something else.

Sincerely disagree. And so do all my Irish and British friends who, like me, have had both.

Assuming they also serve me the glass by grabbing it at the top where my mouth goes with their dirty ass waiter fingers the pour is the least of my worries... can't believe how often this happens

Really?? I've had plenty of Guinness in Ireland and it's the same bland, mediocre stout there that it is here. Don't perpetuate that bullshit myth if you want to be taken seriously here.

By the way, any British beer drinker who drinks(and likes) Guinness when they could be enjoying all the excellent cask ales available to them is the equivalent of an American Budweiser drinker.

I don't know about you guys/gals but when I go to a bar and pay way too much for a pint of anything, I expect it to be presented in an appropriate manner. Maybe it's just me, but I believe that the way a beer is presented is just as important as the beer itself.

That's true up to a point, but do you think that there's a "proper" presentation for Budweiser and that it would make any difference at all in the experience? Many of us consider Guinness the "Budweiser" of stouts.

Correct!! Only when it is topped of it should be given to you so you can watch the last part settle... It is just customary.

If it is poured any other way here the you have the right to throw it back in the bar tenders face unless it is their first day on the job, everyone has to learn...

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and I agree with some of the things you've said, but you make it seem like anyone who, gasp, enjoys a Guinness should be shot, quartered, and their torso hung in the town's square for the locals to throw things at. Christ.

I'm looking at the women looking at me and watching basketball; not griping about the beer pours on out-dated Irish macro sht water in craft driven times. I don't expect much of a tap list from a commercial wing place either.

I didn't say anything about "proper". I just believe that if a Guinness is meant to be presented in a particular fashion then it should only be presented in that manner. Of course, that type of thing could only exist in a perfect world

As for Guinness being the "Budweiser" of stouts... I agree wholeheartedly (Guinness Draught anyway). I'd love to experience Guinness as it was originally brewed.
