Anyone who wipes their hands of Guinness after this I feel bad for. Extra & Foreign Extra Stout are amazing and timeless brews. Shame on ya!

We have it at rause's beverage dist. In greensburg pa. I tried a sample did not care for it, it was light for a stout almost an irish red ale in terms of looks to me. Tasted thin and watery and creamy from the nitro ball. No one has purchased a case yet I have a feeling that they will be discounted when they get close to being out of code in a few months. That being said I do not really care for guiness with exception of their export stout just my opinion

I've been seeing it for weeks in MA/NH, I love Guiness Extra Stout bottles and Guiness on-tap at a bar that sells-a-lot/knows-how-to-pour/shamrock. i equate this product to Bud Black Crown or Guiness Black Lager, (crap for the masses). #youshouldknowbetter.

No joke - why would a brewery that's made the same red beer for 300 years suddenly decide to make an Amarillo-hopped pale ale?
Could it be they feel a bit threatened by the 20+ Irish breweries that have opened in the past 3 years?
    Seems like bandwagon-jumping to me...

Doesn't that describe Guinness nitro-draught as well?

Definitely drinkable low alcohol red hued stout from a huge brewer, is it craft...hell no, is it a decent offering that may send a BMC consumer to go running toward the craft section...possibly. That's where the hope lies in a beer like this, it isn't Guinness a beer that converted a lot of us, but it's something that could be a crossover beer for the masses and for that one reason I will buy and support this. Drinking it now in fact, under ten bucks from my local, not found at the huge grocers around here I applaud the effort for a large company like Diageo to make something different, drinkable, and low in alcohol so I can consume a couple cans without wasting liver or brain cells.

In order for something to be a "bandwagon," it would have to be the popular thing to do. So when I say there's no craft bandwagon in Ireland, I'm not saying that there aren't craft breweries. There are however, not very many and some of them only brew one beer. On top of that, maybe one pub in 50 stocks beer from an Irish craft brewery and usually only in larger cities and chain off license franchises like Carry Out that are owned by craft enthusiasts. Craft beer is not popular in Ireland and is certainly not a bandwagon thing, nor is Smithwick's Pale Ale anymore a craft beer than regular ole Smithwick's.

That explains why 4 new craft beer bars opened in Dublin this month - thanks for setting me straight!

I just got back from my 2nd vacation to Ireland, and this time we explored all over the country rather than being in just one city. I can tell you that if you walk into a wine/beer shops, you won't find anything exciting, and we checked out a lot. You'd especially think you'd find something good in college cities like Cork, but nothing, it's really pretty bleak. But, that being said, I like that they stick to tradition in my opinion. I'm not that big a fan of Guinness or Murphy's over here in the U.S, but dammit if there isn't something great about it while you're drinking it in a pub with a lot of other drunk Irish.
