It's a great space and everything I had was better than that bottle of Xstar! I think Gun Hill IPA is pretty similar in profile to OH IPA, whatever that's worth, and the session ipa was pretty much on par with most pretty good session IPAs. The bartender was great to talk to and it was great to be at a space more mellow than the other breweries around the city.

I'm not sure I'd call Roll Call a Vermont IPA (and they don't on site at the brewery), that is, I'd like more big fruitiness. If anything it struck me as an updated take on Ithaca Flower Power, a pretty floral ipa. I think mosaic fans will enjoy that beer though I didn't find as much of the Citra as you seem to have. Maybe that will change when I open some cans!

I look forward to checking in more frequently to see what's brewing. The local food scene is on point too! Can we get a curry chicken with yellow rice and sweet plantain inspired beer?

Glad you enjoyed the visit! It was probably roger behind the bar great dude. Chris is just now getting his feet wet, we're all excited about what's to come in the future.

Dude has the craziest ability to source hops literally getting packages in weekly.

Actually after some internet stalking, seems it was Kieran, stocky guy with a beard?

Had a can of Proclamation last night, I was pretty impressed. Definitely the perfect warm weather beer. I'd say it's right there with MT Fortunate Islands and that's saying something. I got a few cans of Roll Call yesterday too, I'm excited to try it.

I have to agree with the modern times mention that was the same exact beer I was thinking about when I drank it for the first time.

They are brewing up a sour when I was there on Saturday. The Brewer and assistant Brewer max went up to the roof to wrap up the kettle allowing no oxygen to get in the way of lacto doing its thing

Hey all, very exciting news. Gun Hill just canned Roll Call: East Coast IPA 2. A mango, guava, pineapple hazy IPA which includes additions of Waimea, Mandarina Bavaria and Citra, dry hopped with Rakau. They'll be releasing cans at noon this Saturday. Don't sleep on this juice box for big boys and girls!

Any chance cans would hit the same NYC distribution spots as last time? Because that would be fantastic.

I just picked up a can of it at City Swiggers on the Upper East Side last night. So good chance a lot of other stores have gotten it or will get it soon.

Good Beer had cans when I was there on Sunday. I really enjoyed it, but for some reason it had a strange finish. Am I the only one?

Strange finish I will have to agree with, not sure but I get that from most of their hoppy offerings. They use London III which is ( hillfarm/ tired hands) suppose to apply fruity finishes not sure why it's been so muddled

Looks like they opened a new location in the South Bronx. I'll have to check it out ASAP as that's much closer than the Laconia location. I tried Haka today and wasn't wowed, but I always root for these guys.

I grew up not far from the Laconia spot. I'd have called you crazy if you told me there'd be a microbrewery here in 2016. I wish them well! Will def have to stop by next time I'm home.

Heavy handed additions of Citra, El Dorado and Galaxy. Dry hopped nearly 3 pounds per bbl + the usage of the Conan strain. I feel its drinking in its prime out of cans right now.
