How is this place? I exclusively go to Laurelwood any time I'm at PDX, but I'll be flying Southwest on Tuesday, so I'll be in Concourse C and Gustav's will be the closest option. Is the food any good? It looks like they only have German (and German-style) beers, which is fine, but basically what I want to know is: should I just hoof it down to Concourse A and hit Laurelwood, or should I give Gustav's a whirl?
If Laurelwood has Megafauna on at the airport, your question is irrelevant about how good Gustav's is.
I can't speak specifically for the PDX site, but I have eaten at the Gustav's just across the river in Vancouver, and was underwhelmed by the food. Laurelwood and Rogue are better bets for good food
I can't comment on the food, but the beer selection is fair at best. My recollection from a couple weeks back was that Inversion IPA was the most exciting thing available there. As for Laurelwood PDX, they pretty much just offer the core beers and one seasonal. Several weeks ago it was the Portlandia Pils, and on Friday it was the Hooligan Brown. On the other hand, the Workhorse IPA was very, very fresh, and just delicious. Probably just as well they didn't have the Megafauna on tap... I would probably have missed my flight to Eugene.
Well, sounds like I should just stick with Laurelwood. Last time I was at the Concourse A location, they had one of the Portland Pale Project beers on, and you can never go wrong with Workhorse. Plus their food is better-than-decent for the airport.
