I realize I am the minority here, but I am a female (gasp!), and the only sport I am vaguely interested in is gymnastics. In an effort to get more folks interested in it as well, I am offering beer as a reward. Some local MI fav's that are hard to get:

~ Witch's Hat BB Night Fury w/ Vanilla Bean (limited bottling- picked it up today in their mug club member-only bottle sale.
    ~ Short's Strawberry Shortscake
    ~ Short's Mmmkay

and likely a couple extras. If those tickle your fancy- here are the rules:

    - USA-Gymnastics' national championships are this weekend (for the elite gymnasts- the ones that are aiming for the olympics). Simply guess who will come in first, and guess what their total All Around points will be. Whoever is closest, without going over, wins (if two people have the same guess, the first posted wins).

Anyone who posts any lewd, dirty thoughts about these 15-19 year old girls will be automatically disqualified.

I think all you folks are ladies and gentlemen, so I don't foresee this being a problem, but there are some sicko's in this world so I had to throw it out there.

I'm assuming there are not many huge gymnastics fans here, so to help you out a bit, here are the results from prelims, which occurred tonite:

    http://usagym.org/PDFs/Results/w_13champs_sr1aa.pdf

That shows all of the gymnasts entered in the competition, as well as their current placement after prelims. The 'AA' at the far right of the sheet shows their current All Around total. The competition combines the scores from both prelims and finals, so the higher the current placement thus far, the more of a 'head start' they have going in to finals, so to speak. Also, note that I said they combined scores- so your guess should be somewhere around 110-120ish. (Just to help you out a bit) If you really feel like researching your guess of who will come out on top, you can take a look at the gymnast's profiles here to see if maybe someone had a bad night & will come back w/ a vengeance night two:

    http://usagym.org/pages/athletes/womenList.html

You can also find the usa-gymnastics youtube page to see videos from the competition.

I will throw in a Witch's Hat BB Night Fury w/ coffee if the winner can guess who my favorite Junior gymnast is. They are also competing this weekend, but they are the younger girls so they are in a different group. That is the only hint you will get because I want to drink the coffee one. Lol. You will have to find a list of Jr athletes competing yourself, and try and guess who my favorite one is. I'm an honest cookie, though, so if the winner guesses correctly, you will get that as an extra. If you want to take a stab at that, post your guess for that with your senior winner/AA total guess. If someone else guesses my fav jr right (besides the LIF winner), I'm probably not going to give you my coffee night fury. Lol. But you may get a shortscake sent your way, if you are the first to get it.

One guess per person, obviously, and this closes at 7:30pm, eastern time, on Saturday August 17th (before the final competition starts). Winner will be announced around 10:30-11:00ish that night, or possibly the next day if I had a little too much fun with the gymnastics drinking game while watching. Should ship out Monday barring any sort of life emergency. If anyone is interested, the competition will be broadcast on NBC from 8:00pm-10:00pm eastern Saturday night. I know, I know, you are all rushing to your DVRs as we speak to record it.

I usually only watch gymnastics during the Olympics so this is a great way to garner some interest. Thanks for the offer OP!

I am a USAG gymnastics dad and I have not grown to like the sport at all. The girls are super strong and athletic but the vibe at meets is totally Toddlers and Tiaras.

On my own I would pick Nadia Comenici, who is retired, not American, and possibly dead. I will get guidance from Abby. If she is going to disappoint her dad by dropping soccer, she can atone for it by winning him some beer. And mastering the kip maneuver once and for all.
