I was at the store the other day and they had a single bottle of this left. This particular batch was brewed in 2009 and bottled in 2011 and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this brew. The only other brew I've had from haandbyggeriet is the Aquavit barrel porter and thought it was... Interesting, definitely not bad, but interesting. The Haandbakk only cost $10 so I decided "why not." I like sours enough. What are your thoughts on this brewery, and more specifically, this beer in particular.

I've had it twice and have a bottle in the cellar. Thought it was pretty good and would recommend you trying it. Definitely worth 10 bucks in my opinion. I feel the style was done justice with this brew.

Handbaak was less than memorable, but for $10 it is not the worst buy you could make.

I try to pick it up any time I see them in my travels. This beer doesnt get enough love imo... but thats better, meaning it is on shelves.

I think it's excellent. Haven't seen it around locally in probably two years -- I'm always keeping an eye out for it.

Awesome stuff. So sour and rot gut funky. I am big fan. Best of the style.

I actually like the Haandbic too...

It's quite nice. People in our tasting group swear it tastes just like Consecration.

I can see the comparison with Consecration... Espcially with a well aged bottle. I actually have a 3-4 year old bottle of the Handbaak that I have been saving to see how it ages.

Is there such a thing as a house wild yeast? A lot of the brewery Haand sours I have tried taste very simular in terms of the bracing vingar notes. I though I heard that these guys brew out on a farm and leave barrels out in the wild to ripen for these sours... Earthmonk style barrel aging. I honestly don't know much about the Haand and this post reminded me how good this beer is.

I think it's a good representation of the style. Lots of Acetone aroma but tasty.

HaandBryggeriet is one of my go to breweries in my store. Everything I have had from them I thought was excellent.

Like this beer a lot, however avoid wild thing at all costs. That beer does not agree with my palette in any shape or form. Also odin's is probably the best beer I've had by them, and one of the best imperial stouts out there IMO.

I'll dig up that vintage bottle next time we have a tasting.
