Had my first malt liquor

    Never drank that stuff. Started with macros and then went to craft beer. So I picked up some Colt 45 expecting to hate it and drain pour it but I was totally surprised it wasnt that bad. It was definitely drinkable and not offputting and certainly better than beers like Miller Lite or Bud or Rolling Rock. So yeah Im a regular craft drinker who doesnt like AALs much and picked up a Malt Liquor and liked it. Weird huh.

    I had one. I did it for the rating in the style category. If it's a real style then there should be good ones and not just all bad ones. The high gravity is not for me.

    I've tried a few. Colt 45 is the only one I've had that is decent. Try some OE, that stuff is gross.

    I will always have a soft spot for malt liquor in the right timd or place. Some of it is nostalgia and sometimes you just need that forty ouncer on a hot day hanging out with friends.

    It can be a sweet and boozy ride, but also a rewarding one. They're not all bad! :sunglasses:

    I went straight to malt liquor. First time I got faded it was on Colt 45 and Crazy Horse.

    I enjoyed Malt Liquor throughout high school. I still pick up the occasional 40 oz.

    I remember when DFH made their malt liquor and it came with a paper bag. It was pretty decent.

    I'm actually on board with this. I think malt liquors get a bad rap because of all the negative connotations -- e.g. its the preferred drink of the homeless and malefactors. Compared to their macro brethren I think most malt liquors deliver a better and more rounded flavor.

    Voodoo Brewery recently made a mslt liquor amd put it in bombers. Part of their hash tag series. Called #22oztofreedom.

    I remember running out of beer after the first half of a football game in college. I was short on cash, so I picked up a sixer of Hurricane tallboys from a gas station for a few bucks. It was plain nasty, but I already had a bit to drink before, so I did not care about taste. I drank my last one the next day quite a bit more sober and I nearly gagged it was so bad.

    I think it is the worst beer style but then again, light lagers are pretty low on the totem pole too.

    Most malt liquors are pretty tame (ABV wise) when your used to drinking DIPA's.

    sometimes when you're low on cash and wants a boozy punch, its the way to go.

    I also think most of the members on this website would pick malt liquor over most AAL and light AALs

    Malt liquor has its own charms ... Had a Mickey's at a party a while ago and managed to see some merit.
