Had my first malt liquor

I can only really put it down to regional/local powers that be co-opting terms for their own agenda. That's why even in 2014 in Oklahoma we can buy beer under 4.2 ABW beer damn near anywhere & refrigerated & all the full strength stuff must be purchased in a liquor store

Texas & their labeling legalities, that's a whole thread to itself. You multiply times 50 states & throw in some local variables and I'm surprised there's not more bastardation of terminology...

 

That's just not the same when you're tipping a little for the homies that ain't here.

 

I was drinking a lot of Colt 45 during and just after high school in the early 90's. I remember that during this time 22oz bottles came out which was a good thing because for me it was hard to drink a whole 32 oz bottle during our lunch hour at work. Now I think back about all the colt 45 I drank and smile but I dought I would have another.
