I was browsing the recent reviews and noticed a handful of hands cropping up from the same user. Curious, I checked out the rest of their reviews and noticed that they posted 383 hads today. I realize that the nature of the "had" is just to give a quick numerical score, and that this person could well be going off an accumulated set of notes. But given the lax nature of this stat, I'm curious if there's a standard that constitutes site abuse, to load up on beer karma or otherwise.
I'm guilty of doing this. Before I joined BA, I used to keep all my Hads in a spreadsheet. Recently, I've begun the process of transferring to the site. Some days I've had well over 20 Hads. What does beer karma get you? Should anyone care if someone's trying to load up on it?
Why are so many people concerned about what others do, even when it doesn't affect them in any way? I don't enter my hads right away. I am old school. I keep track on paper in a notebook. Then when I feel like entering them I do.
I've taken some Untappd check ins and later added them as Haves on here. I haven't gone back and ticked every beer I've had in my life though.
Me neither. I have to guess that I have tried at least twice as many beers as are on my hads. I have only started keeping track over the last 3 years and I have been drinking craft beer for 13 years or so.
I haven't gone back either and ticked every beer I've had - mainly since if I want to review it, I don't want to trust my memory of what it looked/tasted like. I'll slowly update as I actually "have" things, but at the same time I'll add a few from recent memory as well. Don't see why others can't do that too!
People have been loading reviews from other sources for over a decade now. This doesn't necessarily mean there's any abuse occurring. That said, if you have proof of abuse occuring on the site ... simply send us a message with an explanation and link to the user profile. Thanks.
