Anyone from the Hagerstown area on here? Making a trip down there Thursday night and I'm wondering which of the many liquor stores in the area have a decent craft beer selection? I've been to the Wooden Keg before but that's about it. Any chance there is some Abraxas around? Any good bars/restaurants other than Always Ron's or Hempen Hill with a decent tap list and good food?

I don't know Hagerstown very well, but I was up that way on Friday night and stopped by Liquor Locker to grab some 6 packs. They had a pretty solid bottle selection, but their prices were all over the place. They had a bottle of last years Bourbon County Backyard Rye for $40, which was tempting, but I paid half that last year and passed on it. They had a ton of Perennial bombers, but no Abraxas. Could be worth giving them a call or stopping by in case they got any since Friday.

Thanks I will check that place out. I've done some research via websites and facebook but that seems to be hit or miss, really I'm just looking for places that carry craft beer as I'll probably stop in 2-3 shops.

Ye Old Spirit has a pretty awesome craft collection aside from the Wooden Keg.

Isn't that in Frederick? Or is there another one?

Need to bump this. Heading there for a meeting Wednesday morning. Looking for bottles to take home that I can't get in Pittsburgh. Any input?

Wooden Keg has the best selection by far. Cool, knowledgeable guys working there. They usually have a few rare bottles behind the counter or in the back. Long Meadow Liquors is a good option and priced reasonably.

Wooden Keg is absolutely your best bet in Hagerstown, I was in two weeks ago or so and they were talking about pulling all of the beers they've been cellar-ing out for sale so maybe you'll run into that.

@PSU_Mike there's a chance you find some leftovers. they posted on facebook Nov. 12th that they would begin pulling out the collection over the next few days. Not sure what the foot traffic is like in there but you may get lucky

@Tmwright7 my bad, I missed that. When they told me about that the other week they weren't sure yet when it would go down.

@PSU_Mike it's been a while since i've been in there, and they didn't call out specifically what cellar'd beer they had, but they usually have a big assortment of Bruery beers, a few Maine Beer Co. options, most of the New Belgium stuff, local stuff (Flying Dog, DuClaw, Stillwater etc...) and much much more.

I'm from PA dude. The markup on everything here is substantial.

Nah, Pittsburgh but still, PA prices in general are absurd by comparison. What are the chances of snagging some Double Duckpin? I have orders from ppl back home. I don't love it but everyone else seems to.

@Devman171 when was the last canning run? Haven't seen any in H-town in a while, if there is any around Wooden Keg or the Liquor Locker out on Rt. 40 are the only two places I've seen it in the area.

Just a thought. Bring a growler 32oz or 64oz and stop by Antietam Brewing. Last time I was there, they had some VERY good beers on tap Food was good too. Connected to their place was a nice bottle shop to boot.
