Taproom out by me is on their 2nd barrel of Lumberjack. One of the best non BA stouts Ive had in a while.

This is me exactly as well, passing at $20. It's too rich when you can purchase Parabola or Abyss for less. I passed on these last two BA stouts. I did, however, have the BA Arctic Ale last night. At $15 it's reasonable and I'll purchase again, it's pretty good after a proper warm up.

Having the coffee now...I have to say I really like it but agree the coffee overwhelms the bourbon. The alcohol presence is there but the bourbon flavor is hidden. Still really good, the Vlad base works well with the coffee.

I have become a fan in a crowded market, I've had the NE Style and WC Style IPAs and thought both were solid and worth buying again.

I am finishing the 4 pack of Makatea and I feel it is on par with Ballast Point's non fruit IPAs and Pale Ales like Grunion. I reaize Grunion is a Pale Ale but I think they are similar, but Makatea is more IPA of course

I agree, but then I realize Grunion is a 3-4 year old beer and it tastes antiquated...so rather than something new, Makatea strikes my palate as been there done that. Solid, but been done and perfected by others long before.

Grunion features mosaic hops, which is a far newer hop than anything used in makatea

Would those who've been to the Hailstorm tap room mind sharing a quick review? Serve food (if not, some local dining options)? Kid friendly? Recommended stuff on tap? Expect it to be busy this Saturday because of the Agnitio release? TIA!

I assume it will be somewhat busy, but not too crazy. It's a pretty big space. I've seen kids there before but as a parent I wouldn't consider it a great place for kids. They do not serve food, but they're typically food trucks on the weekend. It's a pretty cool place and you will most likely enjoy yourself.

Found this to answer your question:

This collaborative series between Hailstorm Brewing Co. and Transient Artisan Ales was formed in the spirit of camaraderie and experimentation. Each batch was split between two identical open-top oak fermenters, and then further aged in oak puncheons, where each brewery experimented with their own blend of yeast. Both were brewed and aged at Hailstorm>. The difference between the two are, Hailstorm bottles are dry hopped with Huell Melon Hops and used a blend of 8 different Brettanomyces strains and Transient Artisan Ales bottles are dry hopped with Mandarina Bavaria Hops and used a culture of Brettanomyces cultured from Fantome.

Awesome, thanks. That answers my question as to whether I should get bottles of both - YES!

So who wants to circle back into line on the BA Vanilla Vlad release to pick up my 5 bottles?

Looks like I'll be at home instead now trying to get my DLD tickets...

Im in the opposite boat I can't make it to DLD this year so now I can go to this release instead of sitting at home trying to get DLD tickets.

First release of Vanilla Vlad lasted until late in the day, at least 5pm I think. Seems hype hasn't been too crazy with Coffee not selling out and seeing distro. I'd bet you could head over around 2-3pm and be fine.
