Have you tried any of their beers since 2012?

Have you tried drinking milkshakes instead of beer? They taste kind of like Milkshake IPA's but a little sweeter and no hints of beer.

Branching off of this, the "no haze, no care" attitude nowadays actually cracks me up. I personally know, and I've seen people who have looked up recent IPA's that are being raved about, saw on Untappd that they aren't hazy, and put the 4-pack back on the shelf. Shoot, more HA and Pipeworks IPA's for me though.

Pretty silly when you consider "haze" isn't even a flavor lol

I mean, I get that some people prefer hazy IPAs, and that's fine. And I also get that for a long time, IPAs were "too hoppy" and "too bitter" for a subset of beer drinkers. Also fine.

But I get sick of constantly drinking hazy IPAs; hell, I get sick of IPAs, period, and they're my favorite style! I'm glad HA hasn't gone all-in on haze, even though they're clearly great at it.

I literally do the exact opposite of this. When I need a new IPA for the fridge I lurk this thread or Pipeworks, then check them on Untappd, and if they ARE hazy I pass them by. If the pics show a "CleerBeer" (heh) I grab a couple. The strategy works. Bodem is my new goto for this summer. I've been drinking almost exclusively Chicago IPAs since Toppling Goliath decided to eat shit by going 100% haze and every local in Mke is copy-catting their own nasty heartburn haze juice. Thanks for keeping it real HA!

On that note, anyone here know if BHA is getting distro here to WI?

If you do, I'd probably suggest snagging a case if at all possible. It's a subjective opinion, but it's the best IPA I've had this year, and I consumed a ton of it over the weekend. Living 3 minutes from the Balmoral location is both a blessing and a curse...

Will do! I'll get on it and start shaking down my usual store clerks for answers.

I'll be in Milwaukee June 25-27. Staying at the Hampton downtown. Would be happy to bring you some if you don't find it sooner.

    Has nobody mentioned Crocus?

So good. Think half acre full saturated beers meet great batches of transient juice is loose.

It’s probably just me but I felt underwhelmed by BHA this year. One can so I’ll revisit of course for scientific purposes but no nose and no bite

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just changing expectations for the beer. When I first had it I was blown away by how strong the combo of citra hops + vienna malt came through, but I've been drinking DDH hazy hop bombs almost every week for years since then, and have also heavily gotten into lagers (and especially vienna-style ones). BHA is neither a dank hop-bomb, nor as crisp and thirst-quenching (imo) as a really good lager, so it might be hard to reset your expectations for the beer.

Not trying to accuse you of anything, I've had a similar issue in the past, so I'm projecting at you in case it's also accurate.

I actually have the opposite opinion. I've had a couple of cans this year, and they have been fantastic and exactly as I remember. After my first one, I made the comment that I wish GDDC was annually as consistent as BHA (I think GDDC has been all over the place the last 5 years, bottoming out this year).

For reference though, I personally find Navaja too boozy, but find BHA very balanced. So YMMV.

I think Navaja is a little too boozy. But honestly, I've felt that way about Deep Space and I think GDDC as well, so clearly my tastes/expectations have changed.

I agree on both as well. The early batches of GDDC weren't boozy at all (especially the first run of sticker cans back in the day, which is probably my highest rated HA beer ever). Nowadays I feel its not much different than regular DDC, which I've always thought was just fine, nothing special.

No news on Rumble Grumble? Binny’s-exclusive DDH DIPA hazy. It’s good! Not sure what the hops are.
