How’s Big Hugs + variants this year? Crazy how the whole event passed without a single comment on this thread.

I thought they were really good, better than last year.

I'm normally not a big fan of stouts with both coffee and vanilla but I thought BA Vanilla Big Hugs was delicious. Regular BA Big Hugs is miles better that what I had last year.

I didn’t see BA vanilla at Lincoln yesterday, but the others including 2 packs of reg BA big hugs were there. May want to try Balmoral?

Q: Is Navaja now only a March release (yes yes I know they did a small batch recently but since I'm not there...well, I had to cry from a distance) ??
    Thanks from CO, in advance.

I should also mention that Obelisk is a nice beer...a nice 'tweener that has the citrus fruit notes of the NE IPA with that mild pine-y, resinous bite Half Acre made their name on.

Big Hugs was a great party this weekend. Big hugs is pretty good this year, my favorite in years. Dangerously drinkable.

guest taps were great too. Coffee abraxas, Rev Santuary #9, a few others I’m forgetting.

went over to Lincoln later that night and drank some Keeping Together which is outstanding.

Around the Table is also . Burl, then Shores, now this. Half acre is doin work right now. AND... heard we might hear some dungeons related news soon....

I’d gladly drink it over a number of beers that generate a line

I'm sure this will just come down to preferences, and by no means do I intend to start a Mikerphone bloody argument, but which ones? The beers I can think of that even generate lines locally nowadays are BCBS, Revolution Deep Woods, and More and Phase 3 stouts. I'd definitely rather have those over Big Hugs. I love Half Acre, but have never been impressed by it.

Between Deth's Tar, Benthic and BCS releases along with a few other Chicagoland stouts and VSOD Friday I'm having trouble even caring about Big Hugs. #Chicagolandproblems
