All I can say is, I’m drinking my first XTRADUBL now. It’ll make you quickly forget about any box. Holy shit.

No Benthic out west of course (sigh) but at least HABC sent us some Burl and Sailor's Kush, along with O Reaper, in their latest pioneer wagon drop. Cheers, ya greenhorns!

I tracked down this thread to say the exact same thing. XTRADUBL is incredible - it's super heavy on the adjuncts but somehow they never become too much as you drink - just perfectly balanced, great mouthfeel, amazing beer. I drank it too fast because I just couldn't get enough of it.

But I also agree that the packaging was nearly too pretty to open - best beer packaging I've seen.

Did I miss Half Acre Cliffs (Wyld that medaled at FOBAB), or has it yet to be released?

I haven't drank a bunch of Benthic in my time, but I gave it a 4.25 on the ol' Untappd, which I felt was fair. Coconut and coffee came through nicely throughout and heat was well hidden but I was missing a bit more pop from the coconut that felt more prevalent last year. Still a very delightful beer and cool packaging/branding though.

I enjoyed the first can I cracked, but I felt the coconut and coffee adjuncts were quite muted. As it warmed I got huge chocolate notes

FWIW I thought the Cherry Brandy version i had last night was excellent.

I’ve had regular, Vanilla and Xtra Dubl. They’re all fine, but I definitely preferred last year’s regular and vanilla versions. Xtra Dubl was just too much - found the coconut to overwhelm any of the coffee flavor. Again, they are all good beers that I enjoyed, but I think the hype is overblown for these.

I had the same exact thought regarding Xtra Dubl. The coconut was overwhelming and coffee seemed to disappear. I've liked regular best so far. I think I'm most interested in the three year blend now. I still have a can of regular from last year and want to see what it's like now compared to this year's.

It's definitely a move into pastry land! I still liked it more than a lot of the Angry Chair sugar bombs. Enjoyed my can over the course of one-and-a-half episodes of The Queen's Gambit....

Finished that up last night with my Xtra Dubl. What delightful show.

Let’s not compare good beers from Half Acre to poor beers from Angry Chair.

It's not like it was a favorable comparison. All proper praise to Half Acre was given.

LP Binnys has some Benthic on the shelf, limit one 2-pack. No price. Guy said “27-ish”.

Benthic definitely in distro. It's downstate already. $26.99+tax for a 2 pack.

Which stouts (from this year anyways) from Angry Chair have you had that you’d recommend trading for? I’ve really only had collabs from them

Oh yeah, that's incredible if you can track it down. The German chocolate cupcake stout is their old reliable, I haven't had a bad batch. The coffee in their beers never reall stands out, so I wouldn't go out of your way for any of those variants.
