Half Acre (2021)

Ended up blessed with a howler of regular Catch Hell from a buddy that ended up with a spare. Consolation prize and didn't have to spend 2 hrs driving to and from the city. More than happy to solo dome in these frigid times.

Yeah, I wouldn't think so either. Riwaka and Galaxy DDC (not to be confused with Galactic DDC) were not distro'd either to my recollection. Time to ready the sled dogs. Mush!

Wasn't this announced about a year ago as (paraphrasing) "our year-round every-day drinking Stout?" And now suddenly it's seasonal?

 

Weird, I was CONVINCED this was supposed to be a year-round beer.

 

Original Reaper mixed 4 packs were great but it's really not a beer I'd be interested in buying a 4 pack of.

Does anyone have any insight on this recent Half Acre to Indiana distribution?

Is this a permanent thing (please beer gods please) or just a random thing like OH, EQ, Kings, etc.

I couldn't grab it fast enough when I walked into my local spot and found fresh Daisy Cutter, Tome, and Bodem for $11.99 each

It is indeed a seasonal. Cold weather. Fall/winter.

 

Agreed. Glad it isn’t a year-round release, it’s extremely mediocre

 

Half Acre's version of Black is Beautiful is available. It's a chocolate stout!

 

Just out of curiosity, what non-adjunct lower abv stout do you feel is better than Original Reaper? I feel like there's not a lot of readily available stouts out there that fit that category as so many stout releases nowadays are big pastry bombs. I think Fat Pug is available year round but I always felt the roasted malts were more prominent in Reaper.

 

Reaper is well done but not something I have in the fridge at all times

 

Any early reviews on Nelson DDC? I ordered some but I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet .

 

Fat Pug is also a milk stout, so not quite apples to apples. But yeah, there aren’t too many local year round comps. Eugene might actually be close, even though it’s a porter.

 

It’s good. Not average. Not amazing. I owe you a better review than that but I don’t have one right now. Glad I bought a 4 pack. Pleased I didn’t buy 2
