Planning to head down Saturday and grab my benthic allotment plus a couple pours and some grub. Website says weather permitting they have seating available for those with guests under 21. Does that mean my kid cant sit in the taproom with me and the wife?

I'm damn far west. Havent been to HA since pre-covid and just looking to verify with some regulars :kissing_heart:

I still haven't heard a clear answer on this year. Someone could probably go slum it and browse the comments on their multiple IG posts leading up to the release. Probably an answer nestled in there somewhere. Just wake me up when they invoke Bongripper again.

“We are now accepting seated guests in our taproom and heated tent who are 21 + and vaccinated for COVID-19.”

This is confirmed from my experience - the outdoor patio is the only option for under 21 and they won’t seat children in the taproom or heated tent.

Is this due to some kind of city ordinance, or are these guys just dicks? We were planning on going for lunch, beers, and take home beer on a weekday with our 14 year old who will eat a full meal, when they're obviously the least busy...and were told via phone "patio only, and it may not be open due to weather."

I guess we'll be taking our business elsewhere. God bless them that they're doing so well they can turn people away.

My guess is they were shut down due to Covid restrictions for over a year and now that they are open want to ensure their guests have a safe experience. They specify adults must have been vaccinated- have your kids? Regardless, most kids aren’t due to age restrictions on the vaccine/etc. so it is probably
Easier to ban all under 18s then fight with parents.

All kids 12+ have been eligible since June, when my 14 year old was vaccinated. I'm happy to show them the card. All kids 5-11 are now eligible to be vaccinated as well.

Stopped by balmoral to pick up benthic, had a pour of southern hemi double daisy and ended up buying a 1/6 barrel. Really tasty stuff

I don’t make the rules. As I said, probably easier to just say anyone under 18 not allowed so they don’t get School Council type arguments from parents. Plus school kids are the biggest transmitters of viruses, so maybe it’s best for all places to ban kids.

Glad 99% of the other breweries in America don't have such rules.
No worries my frustration wasn't directed at you personally.

I'm glad 99% of breweries don't make that rule.

I'd be willing to bet your assertion that kids are driving the virus is six months outdated, and what doe it matter if your kid had a vaccine card anyway?

Southern Hemisphere DDC is, in my opinion, excellent. I found the balance between sweet and bitter to be spot on. Glad I grabbed two packs.

Since no one else has explicitly said it, no, HA are not "dicks." And you're in luck, you have a LOT of other choices to go to. They're a private business and can run it how they see fit. Maybe spend your time finding an alternate option rather than speculating why they made this choice.

Thank you to Half Acre for making great beer and making the Benthic pickup process very easy.
That being said this Benthic box is one of the worst smelling things ever.

The toxic Benthic box came up in a conversation among strangers at the Minutiae tasting yesterday. The black paint they used all over it and/or the glue had some massive offgassing and I literally had to put it out in the garage because it was intolerable in the house. I’d be happier if Half Acre didn’t waste so much money on the packaging and trading cards and sold the beer cheaper.

Last year was terrible too. I had to throw mine out as soon as I got home. HA has the worst peeling labels too. All the glue stays on the can vs coming with the label like a lot of other breweries.

Quilentro is the modern day equivalent of the Sphinx of Thebes. One may not so much as understand him, as they must decipher the meaning. The riddle of Quilentro is the riddle of your future.
