I like the art work and it sounds like a very tasty brew. However, I do wish we'd get beyond this phase where everything written needs to be exaggerated in order for people to understand the meaning. My god, it's like everybody works for Groupon with the quirky, irreverent imagery and name drops. It gets old....

Oh IDK....would be pretty boring IMHO. For example...
New release: "Solid IPA" from Stone. "This IPA is pretty solid."

This beer looks awesome, and it's tied into a comic which is good promotion.
Of course, if it tastes bad none of that will matter at all, but would be a cool label to collect.
I like sticking labels on my midi keyboard.

Half Acre is run by hipster yuppies. If you buy their beer, expect more of the same of this douchebaggerey

Ha, I hear ya. Truthfully, I am aggravated with it if Stone came out with a beer described that way I'd buy a case of it just to show my approval for their new marketing technique.

Their IPA's are awesome. Don't care if they're hipsters. Don't care if they're yuppies.

When you produce a new product with as many competitors that IPAs have in this country, you need some sort of gimmick or other stimulus to set your product apart and make people notice it. The best gimmick/stimulus is to give away free samples. But with alcohol, I don't believe you can, so you need to have a quirky name, etc.

That must say something about our culture that references to effin comic books are considered somehow intellectual and deep. And yeah, I know, they're not comic books they're graphic novels yadayada. Meh.

Back in the golden age of little pre-prohibition breweries dotting the landscape and brewing many of the styes we love today, they just named their beers. Oh, maybe an English style would get a reference to Dickens, or a German style would have a tie-in to Germany, but no elaborate puns or attempts at being ironic, quirky or cutting edge. (Alert Jesskidden to prove me wrong.)

Didn't Stone just brew some beers called "Enjoy By"? That's about as exciting as "fragile" or "this end up" but it didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of BAs for that beer.

So call me old fashioned. Actually, I prefer Old Skool. But IMAHO, just brew the damn beer and make it good.

wow, hate for a beer that no ones tasted, this is a rough crowd to please. I'm glad they aren't using those ugly 750's from founders, but wait do they use those cheap paper labels, noooooooooo.

"Dear Advertisers, I am disgusted with the way old people are depicted on television. We are not all vibrant, fun loving sex maniacs. Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals who remember the good old days when entertainment was bland and inoffensive. The following is a list of words I never want to hear on television again. Number one: bra. Number two: horny. Number three: family jewels."

What is the douchebaggery here? Because they have a marketing and design team? Is it the comic book connection? Or just because you don't like the labels/marketing angle? I'm not understanding.

I like beer. I like comic books. I like artwork. This beer is relevant to my interests. Guess I'm a douchebag? Got it!

Anyway, an all Citra IPA sounds awesome. I like Half Acre's beer (Navaja, Space, Ginger Twin are fantastic IPAs), so I'm sure this will be great.

The first three issues of the comic are free online: http://www.godhatesastronauts.com

The art gets progressively better, but I thought the story was great out of the gate.

So comics= gimmicky, but collaborations with super duper hardcore metal bands, moronic dub step rappers, and popular television shows is fine.

To quote another rather popular member who kicks around these forums, "I hate beer."
