It's Union so I'm sure it will be handled well. I've had Daisy Cutter and Vallejo (IPA). The Vallejo was not fresh but was still really good. Can't wait to have some fresh stuff.

I've had Daisy Cutter and Gone Away. Loved them both. Is it just draft or are cans making their way too?

I've only hand American Youth. Their collab with Tired Hands. Daisy Cutter/Hop Hands mix. Good stuff.

With great local beer, I wonder how successful new out of state entrants will do into this market. Wondering how Sweetwater and Bells are doing here.

This may save me some suitcase space on my next Chicago trip.

If it's fresh Daisy Cutter is exceptional and will sell.

Between our distribution and our breweries, beer in NYC is getting bananas.

I've only had GoneAway IPA which was tasty...bring em on!

Bells was the first big 'awesome' brewery with rare stuff to come to NYC. They've done very very well. People still get excited about the Hop Slam release every year. Sweetwater (to me) is on a much lower level so it's not around as much. Plus there's nothing rare or SUPER amazing to get people excited about.

I think Half Acre's beer will be more like Bell's.

Not to compare other IL breweries, but I get the feeling they're going to be more like Pipeworks - bottles and cans that come in regularly in somewhat limited quantities and go out fairly quickly, but without the truck-chasing that the locals (Grimm, OH, etc) demand.

yeah you're right, that's a better comparison. Just had a Ninja vs Unicorn keg at the bar, amazing! One of the owners and the manager just moved here from Chicago so we'll always have a lot of Midwest stuff.

Didn't actually expect to see Chicago hit NYC in such mass - they have such a solid local/Midwestern market, I'm surprised that so many breweries are interested in expanding here. The reality seems to be that, once you open up NYC, you have to dedicate a LOT of product here - look at Almanac, who went straight from the west coast to NYC. On the other hand, we didn't see Bell's until they had pretty much maxed out the midwest, mostly because of the volume they needed to be able to produce profitably to compete in NYC.

Not that any of that matters, as I'm going to be buying the shit out of some Half Acre when I see it.

Was going to write this same thing when I saw your post. It will probably be a little bit less demand than Pipeworks - from what I understand the beers are on a slightly lower tier - but should be similar, at least at first. Can't wait to try out some Daisy Cutter.

A couple of years ago I thought NYC had Half Acre distribution based on a local bar having Daisy Cutter on draft every once in a while, then I learned that they do this with a lot of beers, secret menus and off market beers, but prices aren't terrible.

This makes me very happy as I'm always bugging my sister to send me Daisy Cutter. I've had Daisy Cutter, GoneAway, Akari Shogun, Lead Feather, Over Ale and Gossamer. Daisy Cutter is a standout for me, but Lead Feather is also quite delicious.

And like clockwork my favorite bar in Tokyo gets Half Acre before NYC does:

Anybody go to this tonight? What's the odds there will be cans that make it to tomorrow?
