Another year goes by with no canned GDDC.

We'll have bombers, growlers, howlers, pints and we'll send some out for distribution.

I'd love to get some of this, but am heading out to St. Louis that Friday morning. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some via distribution, assuming the Half Acre store is out of it by time I am back in town on Sunday.

 

Judging by the madness around last year's release and the Big Hugs release in December, I am guessing this won't last through the weekend, let alone past Friday night (at least the bombers...).

 

I will almost certainly be in the line around open and can grab 1 for you if you'd like.

 

My biggest question is, if this is released at the Taproom on Friday when can we find it in stores? Same day?

 

If memory serves, some of the bigger city stores were selling DDC the same day as the release however many weeks ago that was. So it may be the same thing here possibly with remaining stores getting it the following week.

They open at noon, right? Should getting there around 11/1130 be good for grabbing some? Never went to one of their releases before.

 

So, should I assume I'd have to be there on Friday for this? I have no concept of how busy this will be.

 

The past few releases (Big Hugs and Double Daisy) have been busy, with a steady line around the block. But those releases were also on Sundays. I do know, though, last year's release of GDDC was on a Friday and had lines around the block starting at noon going strong until at least 6 p.m. or so, when I'm pretty sure they sold out.

I would imagine if you get there at 1 or 2, you'll be totally fine and all but guaranteed your allotment of bombers. If you come later, though, you might not get bombers but can always grab a howler/growler to take home with you. Not a bad alternative, really.

 

from what i recall, distro hit a week after release. i think that's typical of all their releases.

i imagine there will be a bunch more brewed. Isn't the second brewery already brewing their year round beer? i believe the OG location is brewing limited/special batches of their brews.

 

Yea, if you get there between 11-1130 you'll be fine. Just a little wait. Expect to wait an hour or so.

 

DDC release this year was on Friday 13 Feb. I know Binnys Grand sold some the same day. I agree though that typically distro doesn't start until the following week so perhaps DDC was an aberration. Most distro will be the following week but I wouldn't be surprised if some hit stores on Friday.

 

I have to be in Lincoln Park at 2, hoping if I get in line by 11:30 I will make it there.
