In the latest installment of "Yes, Virginia there are other Chicago Breweries" news... Some months ago we brewed several draft versions of Navaja, a double IPA pounded out for your pleasure. Those variants funneled us toward the light and now we're wrapping glass around it and making it a full fledged enterprise. 10% and full of steam, this weighty snack forges sharp and soft edges into one single blade. Chiseled down and stripped of the unnecessary, we laid a foundation exclusively from Golden Promise malt. The Promise is barley's almond butter; a rich and chewy spackle for your mouth. Yanked from the scabbard to slap at your jelly needs, the substantial Columbus, Mosaic & Hallertau Blanc. Navaja Double IPA is a buxom tool that's sure to challenge the most daring sword swallower. Release Date: 1/17/2014 $10.99 per bottle $20.00 64 oz growler $11.00 32 oz growler $6.00 13oz draft pour Didn't get a chance to try this last time but looking forward to this iteration.
My 2 cents: This is one of the worst beers I've ever had. Smells wonderful, not bad in sample form, but a whole glass tastes like onions, and that's not something I'd ever care to drink again. However who am I to tell you not to drink it? If you love it dig in, but this beer is not for me.
Had it on tap last summer at the taproom and it was amazing. Easily top 5 DIPA I've ever had in my entire life, can't speak to this current batch though.
Had it last night, it's better than the previous couple of batches. It's strong, but quite dry for the abv, very easy to drink. Not crazy bitter hoppy, instead a pretty complex hop flavor: white wine, grass, pine. Loved it.

....you must of had it super fresh....or from the looks of it, you were probably drinking Devil Dancer :-)......Im curious to try it now!
The sleeper beer on tap right now, and they're not promoting much, is Blanco NiƱo. Had it on tap and crushed a howler of it, it's outstanding. Very complex hop flavor, really couldn't nail it down, but really liked it. The hop is Hallertau Blanc, they said. Half Acre does a lot of single-hop pale ales, which kinda gets boring for me, but this beer is worth a trip to the brewery in its own right. It's my favorite one-off pale ale they've ever done.
