The Black Galaxy shipped out to Alberta today, so the folks out there should see it pop into the system shortly and stores shortly thereafter. Beer Bros. in Regina got their two kegs yesterday.
Winnipeg just sold out of Black Galaxy in 35 minutes. Hopefully you Alberta folks like the beer since it's probably going to need to be traded to people in Winnipeg!
Sadly, I didn't get any of this one, so for everyone who BM'd me my apologies- I will not be sending this one out. (Edit: For those that are really desperate, I can most likely get a case through distro/contacts in AB, however I'd need to ship it back here)
They only allocated 300 or 600 bottles (case = 12 or 6?) for Winnipeg, hence the short time frame for selling out. I really hope it's not a production issue given the batch size! I also really hope nobody in line this morning left without some, as that would really suck.
About 20 people left the line this morning with no beer, including one of our shareholders, and RBeerian piscator/fisherman34.
Wow, that's terrible! Maybe next time better to just keg it and send it to the Yellow Dog. Less disappointment when you can at least just order something else if the keg kicks, so it's not a total waste of a trip.
Wow... Dave silly, but serious question: did you brew less volume of this say, $ellout the second time? I'm just stunned this beer blew out so quickly (I couldn't get there until 10:00) and the last few specials lingered (Rigamarole / Sellout) for days / weeks. Is this a function of Manitobans being giant hop heads and the MLCC offering nothing?
Got to Beer Bros yesterday for St. Patricks celebrations with the expressed purpose of getting me sum "Black Galaxy". Boys at Beer Bros cracked the keg seal shortly after we arrived. What a treat for St Paddy's...a couple of pints of fresh Black Galaxy. A wonderful take on a Black Ale with some added hoppiness. Really impressed with the flavour of the Auzzie Galaxy hop. A superb balance of black malts & bitter hops. An outstanding creation Dave!
Brewery News: The Round Table in Winnipeg will serve Black Galaxy on tap starting at 7pm on Thursday, March 22nd. For everyone who missed this beer, this is your last chance to try it.
Good job Half Pints. Galaxy is a really cool hop used very liberally in Australia where I'm currently living. The bar I work at had an afterparty for some beer industry people last night and the dude who invented Galaxy was working the room the whole night. Congrats on a successful release Winnipegers!
