It has already hit distro in Richmond. But it won't be distributed anywhere but the greater Richmond area.

Yeah I would say that's a certainty. Could also stop by the brewery, I don't believe they are sold out yet.

I can tell you that I had multiple Dark Lords offered 1:1 for my gingerbread stout.

PS: This beer is NOT all hype, I just polished off my growler, it is amazing. And I have lots of great breweries around me in NC.

Total Wine should have it or just head straight to the brewery!

Yes, this beer is worth the hype. It's got a great taste and IMO one of the best aftertastes of a "holiday" type of beer that I've rver had. Not to mention, all of the local ingredients ( honey/ginger) just add to it. The release party was a blast and the city is really rallying behind the brewery.

Depends what you mean by limited release locals, I'd suppose.

kind of been waiting for this thread to pop up.
when the BA review first hit back in the spring we were getting crazy good offers for it so that may be why some people are still looking for the huge bottles in trade.
if someone wants to offer me a King Henry or BA Decadence for 1 again, I'll happily do that and will include an extra bottle or 2 to help make up the $$ but I'm not going to actively ask for that trade...

If you're saying is that this beer is priced at $15 when it hits distribution, then I agree - $4$ for quality limited beer. If you're saying that $4$ now means that we pick an arbitrary value based on bottle size and alcohol content, not so sure we're on the same page.

It will be between $10-$15 when it hits distro. Im trading mine at $9, and usually doing multiples for other limited beer. I suspect the price will go up for next years batch though. I don't think an arbitrary number should be placed on it, but I see a lot of people trying to trade it as if it's a $15 beer, and apparently some of these offers are getting done. Im trying to hook as many people up as I can, but it's the holidays and trading is expensive.

So then Dark Lord is only worth $4$ quality limited beer as well? No one ever asks for more then 25 dollars worth of beer when trading it, right? Listen, in the end, two people agree to a value in the trade, no one else. If what they are asking makes you throw up in your mouth a little, move on, there are plenty of people trading it. You don't have to trade anything with anyone, again, it is a private decision between two people. I think people are making too much of this. Every time a new limited release that is hyped hits it takes over the ISO:FT section.

I had no trouble helping a couple of trades happen. I thought the offers we very fair and I wasn't expecting any Loons. Folks just need to manage their expectations.

I had someone BM me asking what I thought about a deal where the trader was asking him for a Fou Foune for his bottle of GBS...I told him no freaking way. You can say as long as two people agree it's a great deal, but it is only fair if both people have all the facts about the beers they are trading.

Dark Lord 1:1 with GBS is reasonable because both beers had similar releases and people walked away with a ton of each.

Hanzo, I agree with you, but based on what people are saying above, I need to give 2.5 GBS's for one dark lord, and I am saying its between the traders. I would hope most people trading here have a pretty good understand of what beers are worth, or how hard they are to get.

I think we are on the same page, I would call anyone asking 2+ GBS for a 12' DL crazy. That said, I think DL was $15 a bottle, so maybe $4$ would be off a bit.

Personally, I wouldn't trade any GBS for any DL (unless its a BA variant, in which case that wouldn't and shouldn't get done anyway), because GBS is just that much better tasting of a beer IMO. But whatever gets done between parties is fine, and really none of my business anyway.
