Even before I saw the comment HW made yesterday about the 5,800 count being similar to last year I do recall one of the reps last October on release day mentioning the '15 count was around 5k. Who knows how much they set aside for distro but it's crazy to think they sold through just about every bottle on Saturday and within an hour of opening Sun morning. 2 shops that I know of around me got 1 case each last year and 1 of those is the best bottle shop in town. Along with other places in VA i saw bottles pop up I didn't hear or see of anywhere getting more than 1 case on a single delivery so if any does hit distro again this year it will be very difficult to come by. By the time you hear it's arrived, unless you know ahead of time about them delivering, it's going to be too late. I still plan to head down Sunday to grab my bottles and with the counts known it does not seem like I have to be waiting when the open the doors up at Noon.

I wouldn't be surprised if last year they held back, say, 100 cases (or 50 cases, I don't know if they're 6 or 12 bottle cases). Since they massively increased the supply last year they might have thought they'd have had bottles through Sunday at least and seeing how quickly it was gone felt like they should keep it brewery only this year? Based on what I saw and the employees I talked to, lot of places got 2 cases but only 1 would hit the shelves. I know at least one shop got significantly more than that because they'd randomly drop it a various times over the course of about 3 weeks.

If they're waiting to see if it makes it through the weekend, my money is on it not hitting distro at all this year.

Does anyone know how long it lasted on draft last year?
I'm not getting to RVA until the following Friday. Not expecting bottles but was hoping to get a pour or two.

Ugh, I hope this isn't the case, it was around even here in VB.

No clue about it still being around next weekend or not but if you're going to snag some GBS and don't want to wait until Saturday they are doing a pre-release starting at 7pm Friday. 1 case limit.

Quite a lot of people out here today, at least 300 or so right now. :grimacing:

Seems about par for the last couple of releases with the exception of the breakfast sandwiches... which they sold out of :slight_frown:

Maybe 100 people left in line atm - very tempting to jump back in line

One of the smoothest releases from HW in a long time

Anyone have the slightest clue how much made it through the day? I'mean debating driving out from Charlottesville tomorrow for opening or rolling the dice and trying to catch the 1 case that hits Beer Run out here.

Hearing a lot is making it til tomorrow. Make the hour drive, grab your 4 at opening and you will be fine. No need to risk the Beer Run delivery. It would be 1pp anyway most likely.

Got there at 5. No line. Got my 4 and left. With the limits I didn't understand waiting in line so long this morning.

B/c people just like to wait in lines. Those people will tell you it's about more than the beer. It's the camaraderie of seeing your beer friends each week. Seems like a waste of 3-5+ hours to me. Happens every Tues at Veil. (Maybe not the 3 hours early these days) I just show up the following the day and am in & out in a few mins. Just like there will be a line next Fri and Sat for GBS which is completely unnecessary.

Smooth sailing Sunday morning at Hardywood. There is about 30 people here and plenty of trickery.

Must be some kind of overreaction to the Kentucky Christmas Morning incident. #neverforget

Was definitely an easy in/out today. About 30 people in line at opening. No one lined up before about 11:35 - I was early but most folks just sat in their cars. There was a god steady line at opening but never looked much longer that 30 people.

No idea how much is left at this point but glad I was able to easily grab my bottles!

I was actually surprised that there was any BA Vanilla Raspberry Stout left for sale, and discounted, I really enjoyed the stuff previously.

Swung by around 2:30 and it was in & out in less than 5 mins. Supply was getting low but still a good bit left. Even grabbed a couple Cassowary. Would not be surprised if they still had bottles of at least Trickery on Tues.

Wouldn't be surprised if they have Cassowary until the next release

I was surprised 1,600 bottles of Cassowary did not sell through based off them just about selling through 5,800 Trickery but after looking at my receipt and seeing it was $16 for a non-barrel aged and base beer versus $20 for Trickery then it made sense.

Also if you had it on tap it makes sense as well. Cassowary def is a beer that needs a barrel.
