As a heating element for fermentation chamber. I'm putting together a fermentation chamber with an Inkbird temp controller and a mini fridge. I'm thinking about this as the heating element because it is water proof and flexible in a tight space.

Anyone used this or something like it?

    Cheers

I have 2 that I use for seedling propagation this time of year. If not well controlled by thermostat they can get pretty hot. Hot enough to damage the rigid building insulation foam lining my wife's seed starting box. It would heat a chamber nicely but I wouldn't strap it tight to anything that could melt like a PET carboy or bucket.

Thanks for the heads up.. I will be using a plastic fermentor. Maybe I will do a brew belt instead...

Brew belt is a solid choice, and it's made to be wrapped around a fermenter.

I use one for heating my fermentations. It works pretty well. My current setup incudes using a belt (from when I was thinner :flushed:) to keep the mat wrapped tightly around the fermenter, with a Ranco temp controller w/ thermowell set up.

Hot enough to raise a saison over 100 degrees the first time I used it.:grimacing:
Then I got my temp controller.

I have a light bulb in the can. It's a 1 gallon can painted flat black. With a 40W bulb, the can temp is about 100F above ambient. I also used a ceramic fixture (that the bulb screws into).

    I have no problems sleeping.

    Cheers!
